- WRXtranceformed - 05-02-2009 That thing looks awesome but also looks like an absolute death trap! - V1GiLaNtE - 05-02-2009 WRXtranceformed Wrote:That thing looks awesome but also looks like an absolute death trap! I can't think of a better way of going out... Driving that thing like a bat out of hell... - Goodspeed - 05-04-2009 This guy's Nismo 400R. He's originally from VA, but is in the Navy stationed in Japan and has a pretty cool thread going on another forum I read about how he's modifying the car "American" style and what the locals think of it. Also has some interesting stories about the things they do with their cars out there. Interesting side note: When he was here in VA he built Wayne's old baltic blue single'd Supra that came to a few MM shows.
- ScottyB - 05-04-2009 i don't really recall ever wanting a hatchback so bad in my life. if it drives anything close to the way reviews are saying this is going to be a slamdunk. give me one in ford blue and price it right...i bet it would be fantastic to drive

Beat the GT around some Ford test track in Europe. It will come as no surprise that there are no plans currently in place to bring it to America. They claimed it was one of best peformance bargains out there but I did not see a price. They ran a car in the Miller Cup Mustang Challenge last year. The ideas and products really carry over to a much broader base now. - Goodspeed - 05-05-2009 Steve85 Wrote:Hot Rod has really changed over the last couple years to featuring cars that can really be driven and taking them to road courses as part of the feature. I'm glad the Pro Touring scene came about, I think its fantastic and thankfully HOT ROD was able to change with the times. I had a subscription for several years and its a much better magazine now than it was in the late 90's/early 00's. Pump Gas Drags, Power Tour, road racing, land speed/mile racing, they're on a roll. Frieburger is still kind of a dick now and then, but overall I'll pick up a copy of it any day over most any other magazine. Hmm...PPG Seal Gray Metallic...I LOVE this color....

They claimed it was one of best peformance bargains out there but I did not see a price. I was curious about this, and also bored, so I decided to investigate. A Focus ST (The real deal I5turbo 225hp ST) in Mexico is 314,500 pesos. In the UK, it is (cheapest trim) 19,835 pounds. A Focus ST (Mexico) in us dollars: $23,635 (curiously close to the MS3, no?) A Focus ST (UK) in us dollars: $29,890. (yowza) So let's call it a 25% markup in the UK (it's not quite that, but it's close.) A 2009 Focus RS is going to be selling in the UK for 24,995 gbp. In US dollars, that works out to be 37,000! Take the 25% off, and conceivably Ford would sell the Focus RS in Mexico for 393,540 pesos, or $29,600 US. Would you pay 30 grand for a 300 horsepower Focus? - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-05-2009 People pay over that for a 300 horsepower lancer, and a 300 horsepower impreza. - CaptainHenreh - 05-05-2009 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:People pay over that for a 300 horsepower lancer, and a 300 horsepower impreza. Both of which are AWD...something that isn't to be ignored. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that Ford doesn't think Americans will pay 30 grand for any focus. - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-05-2009 The ford focus RS isnt awd? I always thought it was, damn I held those in pretty good regard. - Ryan T - 05-05-2009 Nope, the focus rs is wrong wheel drive. Rumor has it the next generation will be awd and 350hp, but nothing carved in stone yet. - fiveoh2go - 05-05-2009 One of the baddest, IMHO, cars featured in Hot Rod in the last couple of years: a real '70 Boss 302 complete with a 650+hp 408, IRL/CART sourced brakes, NASCAR style nine inch rear all while riding around on leaf springs ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

- Dave - 05-06-2009 that Boss 302 is awesome Scotty, your pic was hilarious. Saving for future use... - HAULN-SS - 05-06-2009 Damn. All that trouble and they got the motor in backwards in that 302! - Mike - 05-06-2009 why does the boss have a bumper car steering wheel? - Kaan - 05-06-2009 Mike Wrote:why does the boss have a bumper car steering wheel? 1970s airbag? - Steve85 - 05-06-2009 Goodspeed Wrote:..thankfully HOT ROD was able to change with the times. There are so many cars they have covered that are not online. One of my faves is a 64 GTO that is basically a GT2 car under the skin. And a Cuda built by a guy who was sick of the refinement of his Porsches. Not show cars... I want that color on my wheels. |
