You can't joke with progressives, Rex. You should know this by now.

I personally think the Democrats are in a whole heap of trouble. My anecdote is my wife, who has voted D her entire life, being disenfranchised by a buncha WOKE AF people who think they know best for everyone. You know, like this article.... and when Ken said literally no one he knew wanted Amazon in NY, but then polls of POC showed a majority supported it. We all saw what happened when the party wasn't unified last time.

This is the DNC survey she threw in the trash because she didn't appreciate the emotionally charged language. She cares about all these topics, but felt the way they're presented does not reflect her opinions on them. It's cool if this is where the party wants to go, but they will not win if they alienate the moderate vote.

Hickenlooper is a gnats ass away from being a gun grabber. Fuck that guy.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - JPolen01 - 04-24-2019

I don't know what common sense gun laws are, but what the hell is emotionally charged about "protecting voting rights" and "fixing our broken immigration system"? Maybe they could have chosen maintaining voting rights if that is less trigger-y. The immigration system is clearly broken - not just the border, but the entire asylum and visa system.

What do you mean, Polecat? They're COMMON SENSE. Ergo, reducto ad fellatio, you MUST know what they are or else you don't have common sense and can be ignored.

Part of this issue is the way that the DNC does their Primary. The idea of a "Superdelegate" means you must be woke as a motherfucker to get them supervotes, dance to whatever tune they are playing because without the support of those 100 or so people, because even after the changes from 2016 (where the DNC leadership conspired to make sure Sanders didn't get the nom) with such a large field, there's a very real possibility that no single candidate will win 51% of the primary vote. That means, you guessed it, the superdelegates get to play queenmaker. That's at the national level, anyway.

At a more local level I think ALL politicians are wildly out of touch. Here I had to listen to a guy outline his principles for why he should be the new local delegate to replace our old one, who decided to run for Clerk of the Court (? ok w/e) but anyway he went on at length about how he was trying to get "in God We Trust" on the Augusta County Seal and I'm like MOTHERFUCKER THEY'RE COOKING METH IN THE WOODS AND PEOPLE ARE DYING  BY THE SCORE ON I-81 WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE FUCKING COUNTY SEAL?!?!?

So like, don't get it twisted that the Dems are the only ones completely out of touch with Joe Voter. Our representative republic is spiraling rapidly to neither of those.

I mean, his style is played out is all.

As for Amazon and POC (of which I am btw) - the most recent Siena poll of AOC's district shows the following:

"Voters 18 to 34 agree at the rate of 49 to 37 that Amazon canceling was good for New York, and a majority of those young voters oppose revisiting the issue."

That would also explain why I hadn't really encountered people who thought them cancelling was bad. I also had a caveat to my statement when I made it, that it was very much anecdotal.

All of this.

The only Rational thing I've ever heard come out of Bernie's face was yesterday -

Quote:"At the end of the day, what is most important to me is to see that Donald Trump is not re-elected president, and I intend to do everything I can to make sure that doesn't happen.

"But if -- and this is an if -- if for the next year, year-and-a-half, going right into the heart of the election, all that the Congress is talking about is impeaching Trump and Trump, Trump, Trump, and Mueller, Mueller, Mueller, and we're not talking about health care, we're not talking about raising the minimum wage to a living wage, we're not talking about combating climate change, we're not talking about sexism and racism and homophobia, and all of the issues that concern ordinary Americans, what I worry about is that works to Trump's advantage."

If Team D cant get on board with this and get back to gov't serving its people, then they are double and triple fucked and we get 4 more years of shitter tweets.

This is basically what I was saying.

I am legitimately worried this is more likely than it isn't.

When the signal is exceeded by the noise, then the loudest noise is gonna win.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Apoc - 04-24-2019

Oh we have plenty of signal... it's just virtue signaling.

I have explained this to my wife at least twice a week for the past 2 weeks. She still thinks Trump has zero chance of a second term.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - .RJ - 04-24-2019

They said the same thing about a first term. I'm not convinced that Biden or Bernie has any better mass appeal to the masses than Hillary, although they are less toxic.

Certainly not with Bernie saying 'Oh the Boston Marathon Bomber guy should totally have voting rights.'

I might understand where he comes to that conclusion on principle, but it's a terrible soundbite and not a good look for moderate America.

As much as i don't want it - I'm pretty convinced that he will get a second term.

Just like Hillary stating she wants to shut down coal plants.

"ensuring equitable access to voting for all Americans" would be better.

"clearly broken" is the same thing as "commonsense" gun laws. there are things that need to change, but my exposure to the immigration/visa process for thousands due to my time in HR tells me it currently works for a lot of people. you don't get those soundbites on the news, though.

They're written as if the DNC is the savior of all things decent. The fact you used the word trigger shows, assuming you vote D, that differences of opinions from the same party aren't actually openly welcomed... which is exactly what I was talking about. The whole message from the party seems to be "if you don't think exactly like us, you aren't one of us" and it's alienating.

The DNC is a shitshow. We are on the same page. I was just pointing out the fact that your wife was so bothered by the wording that she trashed the survey. How is that helping? What's her next move - vote R or don't vote at all? That seems to be the definition of triggered in my opinion.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - .RJ - 04-24-2019

Surveys dont win elections.

Well, she lives with a Libertarian... so I can think of a third option.   Wink

Don't mess with WA man. Even our electors don't vote with the establishment!
