Evan Wrote:something fishy about that one. the league approved those contracts. plus packers and bears did the same thing but got no penalty

in 2009 in prep for the 2010 uncapped season... teams openly talked about doing this. its BS in my opinion.

that uncapped season screwed some people in free agency in 2009. the league had to know this stuff was going to happen.

they just want the eagles and giants on top... super bowl champs + the vick show

Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 03-13-2012

yeah, does seem a bit unfair. taking about 36 million in cap is HUGE.

That knee... They should have pulled him immediately.

Oh well, great improvement over the past... long assed period of time.

Happy with the season.

Uhhh while the Browns do have a better looking future than usual, ours is looking a bit better.

I dunno...something tells me that even with Kirk Cousins playing the Redskins are better than the Browns....http://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=321216005

Re: How bout them skins? - WRXtranceformed - 01-07-2013

What a ride, definitely a nice change for Redskins fans. The playoffs is it, you have to push as hard as you can because that's your last shot for the season. It doesn't surprise me they left him in and there is no way that he would have wanted to be taken out. As the head of your team that is what you are there for. MCL / ACL is not a career ending injury, especially for a quarterback and for someone that young (refer to Adrian Peterson).

I forsee good things to come for the Skins, especially with how well Alf turned out. That guy is an absolute beast, and I owe him a big shoutout for helping me take back to back championships in my fantasy league again this year Tongue

Because Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles didn't happen this year

These guys and their medical teams != us and ours.

Really, how so?

Your ownership/front office has basically taken you out of the draft for the next few years by reaching too far and paying too much for one player (who can't carry the whole team despite what Shanahan thinks as witnessed in last nights game). So if you can't draft any good talent to surround your new face of the franchise....just buy some. Yeeeah...about that. Have you seen the cap space Snyder and company are gonna be working with for 2013, not to mention the list of 15 or so unrestricted free agents going into this off season?

And Dan Snyder is still your owner.

Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 01-07-2013

- We didn't draft a 29 year old QB. Granted, the guy we did draft may last just as long, but our guy put up a rating of 100, while yours didn't deserve a starting job on any other team. Maybe we'll give you a deal on Cousins? He also had a 100+ rating. Weeden had a 100+ rating once all season.
- RG3 can't carry the whole team? Uhh... Did you watch any games this season? And did you watch the final three quarters of the game when he was broken? Maybe we define "carrying a team" differently.
- Our rookie RB averaged more than 3.6 per carry and wasn't supposed to.
- The offense was pretty damned outstanding.
- The defense was pretty beat up, but made great strides at the end of the season.
- "You buy talent" is so a couple years ago. Orakpo, Kerrigan, RG3, Trent Williams, Morris. Get with the times.
- 10-6 > 5-11.
- You don't even have a coach or GM. Clearly a team heading in the right direction...

Re: How bout them skins? - Evan - 01-07-2013

RGIII should have sat down halfway through the 3rd when it was clear that he was hurt pretty bad. Not just to save the game - I think the skins could have easily won with Capt Kirk in, but also to prevent further injury...which...did happen.

This is an attention whoring article and I dont agree with the tone, but the underlying message I agree with

Re: How bout them skins? - Apoc - 01-07-2013

"I'm the quarterback, it doesn't matter what percentage I am," Griffin reasoned later. "If you can play, you play."

This is the most telling part. I don't think he's arrogant, I think he was just trying to be gallant and show heart in the face of an injury. The problem is that as a rookie, he is not equipped with the experience to know 1) Why this is bad for the team int he short term and 2) Why this could be bad for the team in the long term. Again, I don't think he was being selfish... but in being selfless he was actually not being a team player.

That's where the coach should have said, "You're a rookie and you don't know shit. Sit your ass down." Of course, had he put Cousins in and they lost the game, the press would be saying they should have left him in 'cause a hurt RG3 is better than Cousins.

Yes this is 100% the coach's fault. Almost any top level athlete is gonna wanna play if they were in RG3's position. Shanahan's job as coach is to make the tough decisions. Chris puts it perfectly here, he[Shanahan] made the wrong short term decision and the wrong long term decision.

Even if putting Cousins in for the 2nd half resulted in a loss anyway, at least you didn't risk fucking up next season. And even if the Skins won with a gimped up RG3, there's no way there was even a conference championship at the end of that road. So you're risking the future of your franchise for a playoff victory or two. Not the smart strategic move.

Hopefully RG3 won't have to miss training camp or any regular season games next year because of this.

RgIII won't be ready for a long time with a torn ACL and LCL. Will never run like he did before.

Did you live under a rock this year, or are you just conveniently ignoring the fact the 2 of the 5 best running backs in the league tore their ACLs in the past 18 months....
