Surprisingly easy to replace the ball joint boots themselves though if you do do it. A reeeallly small flathead should do the trick if you do. Great progress!! Re: Project Hatch - Jeff - 08-11-2011 This thread blows until OP posts pics of his new huge turbo. Re: Project Hatch - Mike - 08-17-2011 zzz Re: Project Hatch - WRXtranceformed - 08-17-2011 WHERE'S THE BOOST Re: Project Hatch - JustinG - 08-17-2011 hoping to get more work done tonight, It does have a shiney new inspection sticker! Sorry Mikey, that's gonna cost you extra. SOOOOOOO, got to working on the car again tonight. Goals: Install driver front coilover Remove stock header Drain oil Install oil sandwich plate Install oil pressure probe into sandwich plate Replace oil pan gasket Install DC Header So first things first got to install the front coilover. ![]() Header removed, this was a pretty easy process, none of the bolts were an issue, not even the 02 sensor. Biggest issue was making sure I didn't damage the radiator, but 2 layers of cardboard helped prevent any damage. ![]() This bitch was heavy. ![]() Here is where the issue started. Notice the 02 bung above at the end of the manifold. Now see below. ![]() My research shows that this was a CARB legal header, it has a CARB stamp on it, so it was made for CA cars, which have the 02 sensor in the CAT, so no need for a bung on the header. So I guess ill need to have a bung welded into the collector on the DC header. ![]() Now onto the oil pan, its leaky, no biggie need to change the oil later. ![]() Found out why, a missing bolt and a missing nut on the same corner will do it. ![]() So went to get my oil pan its full, and so are all my jugs, so I'm at a stand still, til I can get all the milk in my fridge drank all up. Mean while I got ALOT of my garage cleaned up and sweeped. Now I just need to get all my tools put back up so I'm not searching for 20 minutes for a 10mm socket. So whats left: Drain oil Install oil sandwich plate Install oil pressure probe into sandwich plate Replace oil pan gasket Have a bung welded to the header Install DC Header Re: Project Hatch - Goodspeed - 08-17-2011 lololol....."bung".... Re: Project Hatch - Kaan - 08-18-2011 WTF... my DC header has a bung in it... from the factory. are you sure you didnt wrap around it? <3 i'm ordering my "tucked" radiator after summit. Re: Project Hatch - Mike - 08-18-2011 drink moar milk! good find on the oil pan bolt... i've never removed those so it may have never been there ![]() good luck with your bunghole. Re: Project Hatch - JustinG - 08-18-2011 so lil more research, and looking at the pictures above, this header looks like its for a 94-99 GSR, which is bad. The 94-99 GSRs had a shorter header. Where 94-99 LS, 97-01 Type R, and 00-01 GSR headers are all the same length. I have not confirmed this but....looks like ill have to have about 6-8inches of pipe welded onto the end along with an O2 bung, or I could just sell it wrapped and all, and find the proper header and wrap that up as well. Thoughts? Re: Project Hatch - Mike - 08-18-2011 sell and buy a proper. that thing is so ghetto... i acquired it in a trade from drew manzella where i had an item he wanted and he let me just choose something from a barn he had. a trade! who does trades!? unfortunately, you might not know drew, but GHETTO! Re: Project Hatch - Apoc - 08-18-2011 ^ I haven't heard that name in awhile. Re: Project Hatch - JustinG - 08-18-2011 or I could just buy a test pipe with a bung welded to it.....HMMMMMMMM Re: Project Hatch - Mike - 08-18-2011 bung ba bung bung bung!
