I'll be very disappointed if this doesn't end up on your car, Ryan.

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - droflow - 04-14-2016

Should i put "grocery getter" on my econobox? it think the sticker will be funny because its redundant in the sense that my car was a grocery getter until i put on some sik wheelz. most people think my car is just a regular 3!!!!!!!!!!! *clearly kidding plz don't take me seriously*

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 04-18-2016

Summit Point Spring Rumble - The car finally hit 40k miles.

Overall a decent weekend. My first time driving on a track since November. Was a lot of rust and the cold track didn't help in the first session. Got more comfortable over the weekend but the brakes did not make me feel well enough to push hard even with the new safety gear.

Christina hopped in my car for the first session HPDE3 to do a check ride. First ever session in 3, on a cold track, with new safety gear, no classroom beforehand, point bys are everywhere, and my first track time since November.... yeah the first few laps were rough. Especially when I was told by Christina "You don't slow down for them, you stay on your line and make them pass you"... Yeah they don't mention that at all in 2 haha. Luckily the other DE3 guys were pretty slow for the most of the 1st session so it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. After about half-way through as I was shaking off the cobwebs, Christina said I was good to go for DE3 Big Grin .

Well, the rest of the weekend went fine for the most part. The seats/harnesses are a night/day difference. I can feel everything now. Was able to correct oversteer almost instantly now, where the stock seats I wouldn't really feel it until the rear was already coming around hard... A little slide through 3 and 10 was nothing and easy to control.

Giving point bys in turns was not my cup of tea at first. I would give but it was hard for me to trust the person when they would give me one. The first one I took we were side by side in turns 6-8 because I didn't want to push it too hard not knowing my limits much.

The only hiccup was a CEL that came on after the red flag drill. It was a MAF sensor p0101 code. Cleared the code, went to buy some MAF cleaner, sprayed it, and it never came back on :dunno: . Car wasn't running rough, didn't feel any loss in power, or anything. AFR's looked clean as well. Was going to run the car anyways with the CEL unless the car started running bad.

I need better brakes I did not feel confident at all with them. Inconsistent feel constantly after a few front straight hard braking was not fun. A few laps they'd be fine then they would go a lot farther down, I'd let up a bit then they'd be okay for a bit. I decided to just take it mostly easy on the brakes the whole weekend. The pedal wasn't spongy like they needed to be bled. I think it is just the pads. So brake ducts and new pads for Hyperfest I'm hoping (dtc 50s or 60s?). I'll just have to be careful with the pedal and street tires.

So far from video, I was running 1:30:xx. Maybe once I get my brakes settled, used to the feel of the car, actual tires, and the rest of the weight stripped I should be in the 1:27s for sure.

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 04-19-2016

Looks way less worse on video:

For the most part I ran consistent 1:31:xx as my faster laps by the end of Sunday. Only was faster(1:30:xx) if I was chasing someone as seen with the rsx in the video:

Some times I forget how low mileage your car is! I bet that makes you 100% more confident than a lot of people that your car will hold up on track.

Yes, a big reason why I've done what I've done with this car as well. It will help me have a drive able dd/track car temporarily then I can start towing and save money while still using this thing.

Are you using a GoPro for video? IF so turn on "Spot Metering" so the picture from through the windshield gets less washed out.

That's a thing? Err... I wish I knew that sooner. Will check it out

Edit: wow.... That's a huge difference. Well thank you for saying something

Honestly, it doesn't make much difference other than some bushings being a bit fresher to start with.

I have no idea what the M3's odometer says. I think it's at 154k ish. My friend Will just built a new Spec3 to replace the one he totaled last year... I sat in it and was like "oh wow, 110k, low mile motor!" and he goes "well that's what the cluster says, who knows."

Run 'em til they pop.

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 04-19-2016

And on that note... since people are trying to get a rise out of me or something :dunno: , if TTE keeps staying dead here is actual TTC build: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CEaJxi0xxPcaG-izAxpewrQN_jpvxjNpTAlw-NCUs2o/edit?usp=sharing">https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing</a><!-- m -->

Will have to contact TT Director for questions regarding Dyno reclassing if things aren't looking upward for TTE by the end of the season. Should be fun in either classing regardless. Feel free to tell me I'm doing it wrong, troll me, etc... I think I've heard it all by now  .

Also purchasing DTC 60s and brake ducts for Hyperfest. Will need to be careful with the brake pedal on street tires but I should not have any fading issues again.

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Jake - 04-20-2016

Greg (the TT director) is a doctor by day, so he's super busy. What sort of classification questions do you have? I only ask because you're unlikely to get a timely reply from him more often than not.

If you get a reclass, any mods you'd take points for in "weight" and "engine mods" categories on the points sheet no longer matter. You'll be assigned a maximum HP, minimum weight (incl. you in car) and base tire size. You can deviate from the base tire size but you take (or subtract) points for it.

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 04-20-2016

Well I just want to see what I can or can't do for TTC. I'm not looking for a hugely timely reply. If I show him that TTC sheet along with that 210/2880 it will put me at 15.xxx for weight to power. I feel that's decently fair for TTC, but then again I have no idea how this works as it seems to be whatever the reclasser is feeling which is kind of weird. Basically, aero: splitter, wing, diffuser. Add lsd, add chassis stiffening, add supercharger with new injectors, add new shocks/struts, and last the large slicks. That's all that would change on my car from now. May be too much for TTC though and have to step up weight or down power which I don't mind.

Edit: so my point is like I was saying is I just need to contact him and just wait for a response is the best thing I think I can do. I've sent him an email so it is just a waiting game
