Re: How bout them skins? - kcook - 09-13-2010 cmon evan, give them some credit ... i think thats the best the skins have played in almost 2 years sadly enough, but the team looks good. they def need some work on D and O for sure, but Im damn excited for this season. Their new additions played quite well I think and the rookie rb (johnson) has potential.my only complaints from this game is that portis is always falling to the ground. he makes it 10 yards if that and then just collapses. he cant play like he used to when he played for shanahan with the broncos. if you saw his stats from the past few years vs his broncos stats, everything is cut in half. we def had a bunch of missed catches in the 2nd half and we could of easily had another td. oh and I found this already
Re: How bout them skins? - Apoc - 09-13-2010 Neither team did a whole lot on offense. The Cowboys abandoned the run when it seemed to be working early on, which is a favorite things to do of Jason Garrett's. It was obvious the Skins had the pass covered, except a few times Austin got open, but they didn't adjust. The Skins run wasn't very effective, but I think that's because the Cowboys committed to stopping it. The passing game was fairly wide open, the Skins just dropped balls. Even without the fumble, the Cowboys made more mistakes and deserved to lose the game. Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-13-2010 happy to see others happy for the win, but also KEEPING IT REAL. we didn't look particularly good... the cowboys beat themselves. my hopes are not high following week 1, but mcnabb clearly makes a lot of passes campbell could not have, and that's going to open our game up a lot more. Re: How bout them skins? - DavidM - 09-13-2010 If nothing else this is a confidence booster for the team. I know it was ugly but we did just beat a team many "experts" picked to be in the Super Bowl. I'm not saying we're going to the Super Bowl, I'm just saying we should be able to win some games this year. IMO the defense looked great, the Cowboys have one of the top passing offenses and with the exception of Austin, who really just picked up lots of short gainers, our secondary shut them down, both Hall and Landry looked like totally reborn players who wanted to be out there. Our D-line also put pressure on Romo all night, there were several holding penalties, and I even saw Haynesworth hustle on one play. Obviously the offense was lackluster but I expected that...new coach, new coordinator, new quarterback....its going to take some time for that to gel, but if the defense only gives up ~10 points a game it won't matter much. And to everyone saying the Cowboys gave the game away...keep in mind the botched field goal which would have made it 16-7 and rendered the last drive totally irrelevant...the Skins did their best to give it away too. Re: How bout them skins? - Evan - 09-13-2010 I didnt pay any attention to the preseason, whats up with the WRs? Moss looks good, but the other starting WR is a 27 year old rookie who cant catch a corner fade route? Did we finally give up on Malcom Kelley and Devin Thomas? Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-13-2010 malcolm kelly? yes, pretty much. devin thomas? getting there. As much as it hurts me to say it, I agree with Cris Collinsworth on this. The Cowboys were mostly to blame for the lack of the passing game. They had two O-line starters out so all the passes called were quick hits for relatively short yardage. I think the Skins did a good job of defending the deep ball when they were called, but it wasn't very often. To an extent yes, but IMO it also shows that they respect our secondary. If we had been playing Indy with a beat up line they would have just kept 7 in to block and still tried to go downfield with it, I don't think Dallas thought their receivers could beat our secondary straight up and thats why they went with those little WR screens. Speaking of...I want to buy whoever taught Deangelo Hall how to tackle a beer...thats the best I've seen him play ever. Any one of those little dump offs could have been big plays if out D wasn't swarming the the ball and tackling well. Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-13-2010 d-hall was just trying to bring some respect to the chokies. Re: How bout them skins? - Steve85 - 09-13-2010 kcook Wrote: This is not a Cowboy mistake, this a talented young player beating his man..HARD and getting the call. Forced error. No hold, and Romo hits the turf 2 seconds before Austin is open. Not a great performance but 12 months ago, the Skins lose this game. Re: How bout them skins? - Evan - 09-19-2010 sooo...how bout that defense.... Re: How bout them skins? - WRXtranceformed - 09-19-2010 They sure looked better than the Panthers did today....on offense anyway  To be fair the Texans are a really, really good offensive team. I was definitely bummed when they didn't pull it out but they are looking a LOT better than they did last year. Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-20-2010 yes, looking like a much better team. i'm surprised the texans, who beat the colts last week, only won by 3. Re: How bout them skins? - WRXtranceformed - 09-26-2010 rofl... Fuck you Clinton Portis, that's the last time you get started in fantasy. Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-26-2010 it is certain... once again, another year of shitting up the field. Re: How bout them skins? - Evan - 09-27-2010 wow the defense is terrible Re: How bout them skins? - Steve85 - 10-05-2010 W. and not much more. Two plays from being 0-4, could also be 3-1, but that's football I guess. Didn't want to start a separate thread and it's football so I puts it here. An old highlight film I made with some quality football from NFL Films and ESPN Primetime. Recently found it in a box and digitimitated it (seemingly as crappy as possible). http://vimeo.com/15582045 Re: How bout them skins? - Apoc - 10-07-2010 http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/14085984/portis-expected-to-miss-46-weeks-with-groin-injury Torain is a much better back anyway. Re: How bout them skins? - WRXtranceformed - 10-07-2010 Picked up Torain in my fantasy league as a filler this week. Hoping he does alright like he did last week! Re: How bout them skins? - WRXtranceformed - 10-14-2010 The Redskins, while I still have love for them, are completely ruining my fantasy season. First they put out Vick, who is the only QB on that team willing and able to throw the ball deep to Desean Jackson, then they knock out my starting QB Aaron Rodgers ...word is still out on whether or not he's going to start this week. Do they really have to hurt every QB they play against?!? |
