Show Us Your Meat, and We'll Show You Ours - JPolen01 - 10-21-2019

So the McRib came up at work today. Most people in my office have never had one, myself included. What is it like? I feel like I need to try one just to do it. They are 2 for $5 right now.

It's terrible, but awesome.

fascinating.

i've actually never had a McRib. just can't bring myself to do it.

Show Us Your Meat, and We'll Show You Ours - Sully - 10-21-2019

I had never had a big Mac until about 2 weeks ago. I was not missing much of anything. Probably one of the worst burgers I've ever had... Just sayin.

I've had the mcrib. You definitely feel like you're eating microwaved "rib" meat. But something about it isn't as bad as it could be other than you feel like every bite is a game of Russian roulette. A game where no one really wins

You shut your whore mouth!

I eat McDonald's maybe once a year - mostly when we visit them in other countries. The only things I ever eat there are Big Macs, McRib, nuggets, or the local dish from that country. In Austria, it was a hamburger with an egg and bacon on it. I didn't finish it.

Show Us Your Meat, and We'll Show You Ours - Sully - 10-21-2019

They might be decent in other countries but they definitely suck here. I'd take a burger from anywhere else probably over McDonald's. Their fries are definitely the best and their nuggets probably slightly edge out Wendy's for 2nd. I try to eat great l fast food as little as possible cause I'm always disappointed and feel like shit stewards l afterwards but I usually go to chick fil a anyways

Well, we should all agree McDonald's doesn't actually sell hamburgers. Both in physical product and on the points raised in that article I posted. One you accept that, you can do things like eat a McRib with no shame. Well, okay, maybe a little bit of shame.

Show Us Your Meat, and We'll Show You Ours - JPolen01 - 10-21-2019

You don't talk bad about big Macs (okay I haven't had one in at least 2 years)!

I think this is the motivation I need to try the McRib.

David Chang's podcast and ugly delicious really got me over the "I'm better than shitty food" argument. Some things are crappy and meant to be that way, but it doesn't make it bad or wrong to like it.

Exactly how I feel about some movies, too... like Fast & Furious.  Big Grin

Love that I can make beef soup in 90 minutes, start to finish, with the Instant Pot.

what cut of meat is that? i should know this but i don't.

RE: Show Us Your Meat, and We'll Show You Ours - Apoc - 10-22-2019

The big one is a crosscut shank and the others are oxtail.

I refrigerated the soup overnight to have for lunch today and it was the consistency of frozen jello. So much collagen from those oxtail.

I love a Big Mac and a McGrib. mmm, so much good.

I was driving by a Popeyes on Saturday so I decided to swing in and try the hype that is their new chicken sandwich. The line was quick, but the disappointment was strong. The sandwich was cold and the shape of the piece of the chicken was totally fucked. Clearly it got folded up in the fryer and should never have seen the light of day. But I guess this is what you get customer service wise at a place like Popeyes. I’ll stick to the pros at a CFA.

The bun was pretty good and the pickles were great - thick cut dill pickles.

That's an odd looking McRib.

Who has fried a turkey? Can someone give me the TLDR?

Goes without saying a fresh turkey will be used. Local, farm raised for you hippies.

Show Us Your Meat, and We'll Show You Ours - JustinG - 11-19-2019

Dry off turkey very well
Dry season as wanted
Dump in turkey frier
Drink beer around bird and pour one out for it's sacrifice
Consume
Question why you haven't done this before

Seriously though it is pretty freaking idiot proof.

Make sure when you are pulling the turkey out to check temp or remove, you have a good hold on it. If not, you're gonna have a bad day and end up on the news.

Have someone lift the turkey up while you probe it for temp, assuming you don't have a igrill or other wired thermometer.

Weve always used peanut oil, the big ass jug from Costco.

Show Us Your Meat, and We'll Show You Ours - Sully - 11-19-2019

Basically don't drop it in frozen. Or too wet and you'll be good. Think it's 3 to 3 and half minutes per pound. Probably wasting money in fresh local sourced. Bet it tastes the same as my $9 26lber frozen turkey

Use peanut oil. Costco has it somewhat cheap
