Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - Sully - 04-08-2017 Let's be honest, the people who let their cars get like that are probably going to do something equally dangerous that causes an accident long before a wear item does. Even if it's the clueless driver who just doesn't pay attention to their car. Means they probably don't pay attention to the road either. That said, it's a yearly thing and even with them in my state, I still see cars that are completely unfit to be on the road with parts literally hanging off (which I'm not even sure would fail a safety inspection) and busted out lights or wheels that have so much wobble as they spin you think it's going to fly off at any second or corded tires. It's just such a waste of time for me usaully because I dont get my car serviced at a shop. If I didn't do my own oil changes and maintenance, I honestly wouldn't care probably because one the car would get an inspection when I got it serviced and two it would probably be stock enough to pass anything that was questionable. Some of the shit is just stupid. Like my busted auxiliary reverse light. I should be able to add as many broken lights on my vehicle that I want as long the original OEM ones work and are in clear view. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - HAULN-SS - 04-11-2017 Not being able to find a damn wagon that suits my budget and dreams. Do funwagons really hold their value this well? If I buy a CTS-V and put 20k miles on it over the next couple years, will it depreciate all to hell? You know what really grinds my gears?! - JPolen01 - 04-11-2017 If it's the wagon of your dreams why do you care about depreciation? Cars are meant to be driven. You know what grinds my gears? The way people talk about depreciation on this forum. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - HAULN-SS - 04-11-2017 Uhh - by dreams, I mean until the next round of already depreciated assets hits the used market, and I can start dreaming of those vehicles. Don't you know how this works? Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - Apoc - 04-11-2017 JPolen01 Wrote:If it's the wagon of your dreams why do you care about depreciation? CTS-V wagons are rare enough that as long as you don't trash it, it'll always be worth something. drive on. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - HAULN-SS - 04-19-2017 Seen an article this morning on jalopnik about New old stock 2015 TDI sportwagens going for sale for under $20k..said to myself "sure, i'll buy one" so I did some digging, and found two candidates. One in Baltimore, one in Tampa. Now I have to say this - Fuck Dealers and their fake ass online ads for cars. Tampa Dealer had one listed for $17235 - I expected that sure, there would be some bullshit documentation fees to charge, destination fees, blah blah. Nope - the guys first quote he gave me was $23900 or some bullshit. At which time I said, hey that sounds like bullshit, send me the breakdown of the fees. Then I see that the $5k rebate wasn't accounted for. (On top of a $1000 "documentation fee"). So I said "hey man, what about the $17235 price" and they inform me that that is the lease price - and i said "what is that? work up a quote for me." Turns out these bastards are advertising the price you could pay to buy the car after doing a 2 year 15k mile lease and putting up to $3750 down. How the fuck is that even legal? Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - JPolen01 - 04-19-2017 That is some shit. I usually get pissed that their Internet price includes every fucking discount under the sun. Military, student, senior, etc. Then you get there and the price is $5k higher when you don't qualify for any of that nonsense discounting. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - Sully - 06-06-2017 Advanced autopart stores that have one employee on and he's helping a customer find a part on the computer when I want to buy one can of maf cleaner. Stupid customers who walk up to said cashier , throws a control arm on the counter and asks if he can buy just the ball joint or has to buy the whole thing. Cashier says whole thing. Guy says do you carry them. Keep in mind the guy never told him what it's for. How is the cashier supposed to know what the hell that control arm goes to. Oh look. 3 employees just showed up out of the back and with no haste completely ignored the line of 4 people. And finally one jumps on another register. In case you didn't realize, I started writing this while standing in line Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - JPolen01 - 06-06-2017 Please direct your complaints to Matthew Walker. Try deciphering fuckanese when they walk up with some sensor, throws it on the counter (and I do mean throw, like from a couple feet away). "How much for one of them?" in the thickest backwoods west va accent you can imagine followed up by them promptly forgetting what kind of car they're working on and expect you to know the answer based on "well it's a Ford" People are working elsewhere in the store and probably don't have time to stop and help. Yeah the one man on the counter thing is rough. Ask me how I know. That's either a shitty gm problem or corporate didn't give enough hours for that pay period to have 2 people on the counter. Either way one of the other guys came to help you. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - Sully - 06-06-2017 Yea after 10 minutes. But the counter guy was on the phone with a customer before he could even help the control arm dip shit and he wasn't exactly speedy in anything he did. The other guys didn't seem like they were doing shit. Most of the tags in the store we empty too. Yesterday I went to a different one and asked for MAF cleaner cause I couldn't find it on shelf. When I asked I said maf cleaner (got a what which is understandable) then said mass air flow sensor cleaner and got a what a again. Then said it really loud and finally a guy who's worked there a long time yelled out from behind the counter that it's a red can over in the cleaner section. It's not it's silver but at least he kind of understood and they didn't have it anyways after a manager guy also looked but whatever. Again many of the shelf spaces were empty or they only had one can of something. Don't know but is advanced hurting? I'm sure they are with online parts retailers beating most of their prices and Walmart carrying most of the fluids they carry anyways Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - JPolen01 - 06-06-2017 People who leave a voicemail and don't leave a callback number. Or even better the one I just got: "Jon, this is Bob from RDT. You have my number, call me back." Bitch in the time it took for you to say that you could have left your number. Now I have to look up your info which wastes my time. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - *insertusernamehere* - 06-06-2017 Sully Wrote:Yea after 10 minutes. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - WRXtranceformed - 06-13-2017 When people want you to do a project for free, that takes a lot of time, because someone else from an entirely different business unit screwed up and upset a client. So I get to be The Great Appeaser? Cool Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - ScottyB - 06-13-2017 WRXtranceformed Wrote:So I get to be The Great Appeaser? could you just be like, "no?" alternatively here's your chance to either make great friends with the client and they'll come directly to you next time (and hopefully the commission that follows) or ask some major favors from Captain F!@#up from your other unit so they understand you're saving their ass only through your good graces and gentlemanly sense of honor. At the end of the day it's a good business opportunity for the future since it's a large enterprise company that doesn't do business with my business yet. It's just frustrating that the first time we get to interact is because they are pissed at my parent company. Let's see if we can work some magic! Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - Senor_Taylor - 07-13-2017 Student loan websites. First off, you have to do 10 minutes of research to find out if it's the correct website because it looks like it was made by a 12 year old. Then you log in with your SSN, a Pin, and a Password. Why? Why so much security for a website that has no information on it except how to pay your loan. Are they afraid someone is going to hack in and reduce your debts? Lastly, these things only work 50% of the time and they charge you to make payments? Are you serious? Someone help you if you had to take out more than one type of loan like I did. I've got multiple pins, passwords, etc for different sketchy sites. It's honestly gotten me to the point where I'm going to completely pay off my perkins loan with the money I get from my truck. Then at least I'll only have my huge loan and 4Runner loan to pay. On bills, I really miss living somewhere with a decent way of paying bills. At JMU, rent was on the 1st and was always the same price. Water, electric, etc all came around the middle of the month pretty close to each other. It was nice. Now, my rent is different every month (why?) and internet and electricity come at the beginning of the month, gas comes super late in the month, then our water/sewer/trash comes the next month and is added to our rent? Also we're paying $30 a month for gas? Why? We don't have a fireplace or a gas stove. Perhaps the water heater, but we don't use that much hot water. I'll have to call the gas company, but I don't feel like taking time out of my work day to sit on the phone with them. Speaking of rent, I paid my rent early, then the auto pay (which is set up to pay the balance due, not a set amount) charged me again and made me incur an NSF fee which my apartment complex refuses to repay. Why should I pay an NSF fee when I paid my rent in full? How does that affect them at all? Also, how is everyone's work day like? I've been told we need to log 45 hours a week on average, NOT including lunch. I work 8:45-6 most days and eat at my desk. I understand my role (Tier III support) comes with odd hours, but I think it's weird to demand 45 hours not including your lunch. Add in an hour every day to eat and you're looking at 9-7 every day. I'm actually first in most days and one of the last ones out (not because I feel like I have to, but I'm outpacing the other 3 new guys and really standing out, and I want to continue that trend). This lets me see what kind of hours the guys above me are putting in, and honestly, they're probably all working 50 hours a week too. Is this normal? I really like my job so far and I absolutely love the people I work with, so it's not really a problem. (Also looks like huge growth/career potential) I'm just curious. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - JPolen01 - 07-13-2017 If you have electric appliances I would find it strange that you have a gas hot water heater or gas furnace but you obviously do since you have a gas bill. It will suck to call the gas company but it will be worth it if you find out the meter is incorrect or they are over charging you. That's odd that your rent is due on different dates. When we lived in our apartment it was the same date every month. As far as work goes I'm interested to see what everyone says. My job is unique in that in go in at 7:30 and I leave exactly at 4 about 90% of the time. I stay late here and there when I need to because I can control my paycheck so I stay late when it pays too. I also only take a half hour lunch so I can leave earlier. |
