Re: Project Hatch - JustinG - 07-26-2011

i dunno thats just how they were when i got the car :dunno: Whats that bar for???

Re: Project Hatch - Kaan - 07-26-2011

thats not the optimal way to do things. your harnesses are over 90 degrees attachment.

i there a way to lower the seat? see how you sit in the car with the belt over your shoulders and see if it contacts the seat. you dont really want it to contact the seat either.

Re: Project Hatch - JustinG - 07-26-2011

Seats as low as she goes, and yes it did contact the seat, I assumed that was bad??? Glad you guys said something.

Re: Project Hatch - .RJ - 07-26-2011

a) what are the poly bushings for?
2) dont wrap the header.
iii) i assume there's a bar under the one you wrapped the harness around, use that.

Re: Project Hatch - JustinG - 07-26-2011

Front sway is not coming with mounting hardware, so when I thought they came with the brackets, WIN, now I need the brackets. And why no header wrap? I've seen this as a 50/50 issue, where one half says no, and the other half says to do it. Im in the half of thinking its beneficial?

And yes the harness was already mounted to the main harness bar, they were just ran over the upper bar as seen in the pics, when i got the car.

Re: Project Hatch - .RJ - 07-26-2011

poly is ok for swaybar bushings on those cars. dont use it anywhere else.

Mount the harnesses to the main cross bar, dont run it over anything.

One other thing you may want to consider changing - spherical trailing arm bushings - those make a big difference, they're usually $200-300 for a kit.

Re: Project Hatch - Kaan - 07-27-2011

Im kicking the poly thing around too. its $552 for all the ruber bushings in a CRX from Honda. Some people swear by the "Hard Race" chinese hard rubber stuff... some people flip a bitch. The hardrace and poly kits are significantly cheaper then shiny new honda stuff.

Re: Project Hatch - .RJ - 07-27-2011

When I built my car I used a bunch of the hard race stuff - it was fine.

Re: Project Hatch - JustinG - 07-27-2011

Can't do spherical.....costs points when used in certain areas. Or so I interpreted.

but do points actually matter? i thought the guy flips a coin and decides where your car goes? doesn't he also happen to win a lot of races?

Re: Project Hatch - Kaan - 07-27-2011

hardrace doesnt take points though Wink

Suspension/tires/aero points are added up after a reclass. Your engine points are not counted after a reclass.

engine and weight reduction points wont count.... he gives you a base class (well more than one option) with a weight and hp

Re: Project Hatch - .RJ - 07-27-2011

I dont understand those stupid rules.

Stick with rubber or go spherical. The metal bushings WILL make it ride like crap on the street and increase NVH. Go spherical in the rear trailing arm either way though.

^ what this guy said. Metal bushings FTL. Hardrace hard rubber bushings have some durometer tests out I believe, I've never taken the time to look at them. Lots of honda 'racers' use them, so why not.

the basic rules are easy once you read them enough times... AND read the "free" rules. They are literally autox rules for classing with TT on the top of the page. the power:weight reclass (dyno relcass) everyone bitches about. It helps some and doesnt help others. Its manditory for swapped and/or aftermarket boosted cars. if you dont like the weight given, write him back with a new (lower) hp number... its pretty simple.

before Justin goes too far off in the modifications.... he needs to hit the local legal dyno for 3 pulls, scale the car, and see where his base class is... justin if you have dyno sheets and a rough weight already, just email greenbaum and get the ball rolling.

Re: Project Hatch - navin - 07-27-2011

No offense - but what's with all this gun-ho NASA-TT mentality going around..? Yeah it's a cool idea and and all, but Justin hasn't even tracked this car yet. Phuck TT points + classing, and go ahead and put the car on the track.

Re: Project Hatch - Kaan - 07-27-2011

His intention is to TT... Learn the car in it's basic set up so you can take points wisely.

It makes sense not to spend 2-300 dollars on a bushing that youll have to take out in a year or two if itll kill you in classing. Also modding a car then realizing you have to take off stuff to make the class you want makes the car slower, and a lot of people cant stand that so they end up jumping into a class they didnt want to.

I do think he needs to go out on track, but he should be at least aware of what he is doing before buying items.

Re: Project Hatch - Kaan - 07-27-2011

Someone make "the official time trial/time attack thread" so we can bitch, moan, explain, and ask questions... And no in a build thread
