i'm not saying that every car in the world doesn't look better in Gulf livery, but not every car deserves it so much

Ford Fiesta's (2011+) have been banned from SCCA autocross for a roll over risk. The Fiesta ST is still allowed however.

Also haven't seen this here yet, but based on Infiniti's new Q60 concept having a Twin turbo 3.0, I would bet the next Z is going to be using that same engine.

My interview with the NSX project lead:

Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 01-15-2015

nice work man! good questions and i think he made a point that i hope turns out to be true...take away the pace of raw speed and the NSX will always be about balance. hopefully that continues, fortified now with the power to stay truly competitive in a straight line.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 01-15-2015

It's really cool talking to some of the Honda folks that are 'one of us'. Not all of them are true car guys but some of them are just as hardcore as we are. Glad they got one of those guys who really understands on the NSX project.

It remains to be seen if they actually succeeded on this project, I kinda don't want to get over-hyped. Only a few months till we see what the car can really do.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - PDenbigh - 01-15-2015

Congrats G! That's fantastic man. Long interview! Ya did great man.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 01-15-2015

Lookin good! Pretty cool, but....
You ask him about materials selection but don't ask how those decisions compare to those made for the Mysterio? WTF :dunno:

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Mike - 01-16-2015

awesome interview!

"Carbon fiber floor? Pfftt, have you thought about NO floor? And you use aluminum on the hood for crumple zones, come on man, chicken wire and papier-mâché will crumple just fine and is lighter and less expensive!" He looked like a proud, exhausted dad, I didn't have the heart to drop that Mysterio science on him.

Speaking of light cars, there was a Zenos E10 at the show too. I'll see if I can post pics today or tomorrow.

Not sure how you plan on raising the $850 it would cost to make a prototype if you cannot promote the brand a bit when given the chance... :evileye: I had to throw away a chassis, er, mattress the other day due to shop floor constraints.

Speaking of which, Elio pushed back from starting production this year to next, needs another $200 million before they get started. They haven't even finished building ONE (crappy) engine. :| Oh ok, take your time, what's another year?

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 01-26-2015

Got an email from Jaguar about the F-Pace? Looks to be some kind of crossover SUV with "F-Type performance".

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.jaguarusa.com/all-models/f-pace/index.html">http://www.jaguarusa.com/all-models/f-pace/index.html</a><!-- m -->

Seems weird, I guess they are trying to compete with the SQ5 / performance SUV segment?

Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 01-26-2015

Probably going after the Macan.

It seems weird to use the "F-" designation for their sports car and a small SUV but not the other vehicles. Over the past 2 years they've reprogrammed me to get an accelerated heart rate and half a chub when I see "Jaguar F-", but that's gonna change if they slap it on everything. Much how "///M" in and of itself is utterly meaningless now.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 01-26-2015

Also what's a crossover? I don't know anymore.

I parked next to a Nismo Juke the other day and the roof height is approximately the same as my GTI, and the ground clearance is pretty close.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 01-26-2015

That CX-17 looked really good in person at the NY show last year. Interior was really handsome with houndstooth print cloth and some futuristic curves but I imagine it'll be toned way down for production. Could be really fucking cool if it gets the F-Type engines, but also really fucking expensive.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 01-26-2015

Yeah I liked the initial crazy interior futuristic shots I saw...I guess they could also be going after the Cayenne turbo or Macan?

Yeah I think that's the Golf's problem
Mk1-2 55" tall, <2000lbs
Mk3-4 56" tall, 2500-3000lbs
Mk5-7 58" tall, 3000-3200 lbs

Kind of like when a "SUV" owner figures out it's really a minivan.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 01-30-2015

the reviews are here. 155hp in the US, 2300 lbs. and a true front/mid engine placement behind the front axle for 50/50 distribution. should be fantastic, and i think it looks Tits McGee in black.
