Re: OK, you convinced me - Kaan - 10-03-2011 After Evan won in 2006 some heavy hitters started showing up to NASA events. the front runners have so much in their cars its CRAZY. there are guys making a living off of prepping and keeping half a dozen miatas up front. I'm of the opinion that i would want to be no where near the middle of that type of racing... I'm sure Olson would help you out DJ and give you the inside line on all the crap it takes to stay up front. He's done it with less money in the car then most... but i dont think he'd tell you the cheap econo spec racers is actually cheap. i dont know what Rossini is charging for a motor, but the range is between $4500 and $7k for a "built" miata motor. i've "heard" guys going through 2-3 a season! that being said... Honda Challenge wouldnt be any better as far as engine cost. there arent any H4 cars running right now, but when hizzyfest comes to town and the ITA guys show up... they have MONEY in those hondas. Re: OK, you convinced me - JustinG - 10-03-2011 Sully Wrote:I just want to get into Spec Miata eventually becasue that giant mass of rainbow racers looks too fun to miss out on. Just don't drop a wrench around them.......... it will be like dropping a bar of soap in a prison shower. Re: OK, you convinced me - Sully - 10-03-2011 Well I'd still paddock with the autobahn racers (dj) and the honda guys (you and kaan) Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk Re: OK, you convinced me - Jake - 10-03-2011 No love?
Re: OK, you convinced me - Sully - 10-03-2011 Well if you are paddocking with MM, then of course but it would have ruined the joke if I said I was paddocking with the other Miata drivers. Re: OK, you convinced me - Kaan - 10-03-2011 MM, no matter the car, has the ability to reach out to anyone in the paddock. honda/bmw/miata/mustang/vette/firebird/legends/etc we know people, are respected, and can get help when needed. <3 Re: OK, you convinced me - D_Eclipse9916 - 10-03-2011 +1 I still paddock with MM first! Re: OK, you convinced me - Kaan - 10-03-2011 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:+1 I still paddock with MM first! when i'm 100% absolved from duties... we can talk motor building if you are in a miata Re: OK, you convinced me - D_Eclipse9916 - 10-03-2011 Kaan Wrote:D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:+1 I still paddock with MM first! Wont be for a while if it is. As I said, I gotta drive one first to see if I can "get over" driving that thing on track. It's a great My First Track Car, but I could use another ~100 hp. Re: OK, you convinced me - Kaan - 10-03-2011 50hp/50ftlbs and you would be tickled i'm sure Re: OK, you convinced me - TorinoCobra070 - 10-03-2011 Ok, kind of skipped this thread, but this better not involved the sale of a certain 02 Camaro SS... Re: OK, you convinced me - Levey - 10-03-2011 Camaro(s) are staying. I just wanted something I could drive to the golf course, drive all 18 holes, save $20 on cart fees, and drive home. Re: OK, you convinced me - Goodspeed - 10-12-2011 This is a good candidate: '94 R package (sports package), Laguna Blue. First year of the 1.8L but OBD-I for simplicity. 148k miles but looks clean/stock and if its been maintained its nearly a non-issue. http://www.chesapeakeroadsters.com/CARForum3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9297 Re: OK, you convinced me - DLingenfelter - 10-13-2011 Goodspeed Wrote:This is a good candidate: '94 R package (sports package), Laguna Blue. Those are still dominant ES cars in autocross with some sticky tires. Re: OK, you convinced me - Scott - 10-13-2011 Jake Wrote:D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:They're so godawful slow. Second, I'm game, I'm curious where you are going with this even though it may get me. A 1:22.2. Hp is 229rwp and 3176 minimum weight. |
