I seriously dig that wagon/hatchback thing.

+ 1 I've always thought a hatchback STi would be perfect mix of practicality and performance. Its pretty understated but than again that might not be what it turns out looking like anyways.

I think i pissed all over myself when i saw that car. Shea's rules the universe.

Yet I really like that Evo.

See...the front end is massively improved, and the wheels are some of the best I've seen on a production car, but I'm just not digging the hatchback. No matter how practical or functional it is, it doesn't do anything for me. Also, what is up with the new WRX and Evo looking like SUVs? They look incredibly tall. The new Lancer's I've seen around here look massively tall, with flat rear ends, they look incredibly stupid in person...narrow, tall cars. It looks like Subaru incorporated the Forester-style of having an extra foot of headroom, looks kinda goofy.

- ScottyB - 04-27-2007

fender flares make everything better, always.

- Ryan T - 04-27-2007

looks like ass in a wagon.

- Nis01 - 04-27-2007

They've always been sort of "tall" cars... even slightly lowered the roof line of my car is much higher than comparable cars.

In other news official EVO release pictures/information:

Am I reading that right? DSG only?

- Dave - 04-27-2007

I really like the new Evo, but I really hope it has a normal manual available. Shit, by the time I buy one, there will be a bellhousing to convert some kind of manual tranny to it anyways.

Apparently the DSG on the Evo is better than the DSG on the GTI. I drove my coworker's base GTI with DSG and it was really good. It downshifts when you want and upshifts when you want. Huzzahs all around.

- Feersty - 04-29-2007

This car will probably grow on me like 2006 WRXs.

The hopes and prayers are that the DSG will be on the regular evo and the MR/RS will feature a full Manual gearbox.

- G.Irish - 04-29-2007

Why wouldn't you want a sequential manual gearbox? It shifts faster than you possibly can and frees up your left foot for braking.

- JustinG - 04-29-2007

More electronic non-sense to go wrong and takes away from the driving experience in my opinion, i may love it, i dunno, ive never driven a car with DSG, but it just seems to get away from the raw driving experience your supposed to get from an evo, trying to much to compete with the Europeans.

- G.Irish - 04-29-2007

Yeah but it allows to left foot brake which you can use to balance the car better and steer better with the brake and throttle overlap. Sure you don't get to play with a stick but whatever, my hand gets enough play time with a stick as is.

Latest update of the new STi:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://news.windingroad.com/countriesmarkets/euro/ring-toned-subarus-wrx-sti/">http://news.windingroad.com/countriesma ... s-wrx-sti/</a><!-- m -->

I'm liking it although the back does look a little funky.

- Jeff - 07-07-2007

I like the roofline, the rear end doesn't bother me too much. I just hope they do something classy with the grill, the first photos looked like a cheap Toyota all that was missing was the beige color and the hubcaps.

- Beej - 07-15-2007

Wee, crappy video!

I dig the hatch - I kinda want one.

Oh, and I think the new Evo is heinous.

- Nis01 - 07-15-2007

Thanks for the video, hadn't seen that. I really like the hatchback, I hope they up the performance goodies a bit though.
