- HAULN-SS - 03-29-2007 try it, A-hole. replace 5252 with (220ft/(2*pi * 1ft) * 150lbs) that first term is how many rotations it would take to travel 220ft of a 1ft diameter "wheel" - white_2kgt - 03-29-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:I wanted to dyno it to do a before/after comparo how much power you lose through a slipping transmission - when I put a new one in later this summer Do you have an auto or manual? If you have a slipping auto don't even waste your $35 and if it's a manual what's slipping? The clutch? - HAULN-SS - 03-29-2007 no, it's an auto - don't think it's even worth playing around with just to do a before/after eh? Why? will it skew really low from all the energy being lost in transfer? - .RJ - 03-29-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:try it, A-hole. replace 5252 with (220ft/(2*pi * 1ft) * 150lbs) ![]()

Why? will it skew really low from all the energy being lost in transfer? b/c if your converter is slipping you are going to be all over the place run to run, nothings going to be consistent and you probably won't get it to lock up anyway and it will just down shift mid run screwing up the results, so you'll either get a graph with big dips in it or a flat line for several hundred RPM's. - HAULN-SS - 03-29-2007 i'm not sure why you showed me that. 33000lbs one foot in one minute is the same thing as 150lbs 220feet in one minute - .RJ - 03-29-2007 *sigh* I give up - HAULN-SS - 03-29-2007 I'm not sure exactly what is going on with it - it feels like the revs are shooting up with no power going to the wheels - for several hundred rpms, then abrupt chunks into gear - 3rd gear that is. So I guess 2nd gear is going out? Or, at least thats what it "feels like" i dont know if some other problem could replicate that or not...i know very little about a transmission except what end hooks to the engine, and hwich to the driveshaft =p - HAULN-SS - 03-29-2007 Yeah, i wouldnt argue teh maths with me. I got them on lock. - BLINGMW - 03-29-2007 ANYWAY..... :vomit: If it's having trouble shifting, who cares. It's not going to shift during the run. It's going to stay in one gear, rolling start, run it from ~2k to redline. That's it. Now yeah, if it won't even hold a gear.... like Chad said, don't waste your time. - Goodspeed - 03-29-2007 Maybe start a dyno thread or your slipping trans thread in the tech section? - HAULN-SS - 03-29-2007 nah, i think we've beat the topic to death enough probably - white_2kgt - 03-29-2007 Goodspeed Wrote:Maybe start a dyno thread or your slipping trans thread in the tech section? does phpbb let you split threads? - Gs dewd - 03-30-2007 Last year I put mine on the dyno and the trans was slipping in going into 2 nd. I made 4 pulls that day and the trans held fine. On the dyno you gradually shift through the gears until you hit the gear you going to do the pull in. In my case I did a 2nd gear pull. So it basically works like this. Drop the car in L for a a/t let off brake hit gas lightly and shift into 2nd around 2 or 3k rpm then bring rpms up to about 2k or 3k then floor it to your redline or shiftpoint then let off. There's no time limit or factor on your end, you just do a 1 gear pull. Just like if you where logging the car a 1 gear pull. - WRXtranceformed - 04-03-2007 I wish I could make it down there, I have a wedding I have to go to... it's a shame too, because the new wheels would be on by then =( I'd like to see Steve's Vette go back on the dyno without breaking it  Although everyone in attendance should bring a gas mask to watch; I think I lost like my 4th-6th grade education just from being in that room for 3 pulls =P - PDenbigh - 04-03-2007 Hey, on the flyer, you might want to mention that spectators are free. Unless, of course, they aren't. - HAULN-SS - 04-03-2007 yeah, and if the websites are on there, it might be nice to actually put up some info about the show, i couldnt find any. - AlpineOverNappa - 04-04-2007 I'll enter and dyno if I can get my car back from the shop by then- when do I need to let you know by? - JustinG - 04-04-2007 approximately 4pm, the day of the show
- AlpineOverNappa - 04-04-2007 haha ok |
