Theres tons of little differences between the NA and the TT...TT has larger brakes, LSD, thicker rear anti sway bar, larger pump and 550cc injectors, different heads, though they share the same cranks and connecting rods, they are completely interchangeable

just cuz I know you pride yourself on knowing about these cars, the NA had an LSD as an option as well. I don't know anything about the effectiveness of any of these stock LSDs, but it was a possibility (mine has it, and I've got the original sticker showing it as an option).
As Rex said the two motors have totally different ignition, coil-on-plug vs distributor, and aside from the same block and internals, they really are very different engines.
Wayne is very good about maximizing speed while minimizing budget. He's meticulous about picking his power adders and only goes with things that have been proven. His criteria also have to strictly follow his rule of staying as stock as humanly possible. He keeps getting kicked off of tracks b/c he just can't bring himself to put a roll bar in the car b/c it'll ruin the interior in his eyes, but his times are too fast to not have a roll bar. He also has a tendency to buy the earlier models = obd1= engine management doesn't seem to come into play as quickly to get around stuff. Also keep in mind that he doesn't run around at "high boost" all the time, doesn't play on the streets too much, and definitely builds the car towards the 1/4 mile. So, "for those 10 seconds or less :-)" is all his car needs to hold together at his higher settings, although knowing him he probably isn't putting as much stress on the engine as you might initially tkink. (not a good excuse, but it's kinda how I look at it).

Really? I had no idea the NA's had the option of an LSD, thats cool to know. Last time I talked to Wayne he seemed intent on putting a cage in and doing a fuel system/possibly a 71mm single, but he may be selling his car soon Sad

The NA LSD on a supra is a viscous type differential while the Turbo Supra Differential is a Torsen-type differential.....

- Ryan T - 01-20-2007

All 6 speed LSD in the US and the 96 and earlier use a Torsen-Gleason LSD (worm gear type). 97+ auto and the optional NA LSD use a Torsen-helical LSD.
