That was just pathetic.

Yeah it was.

snug your nuts up to the tank... you should stay dry... hell everything but my crotch was wet yesterday!

Or just ride with rain gear. You know, just a thought.

- Apoc - 10-26-2007

I have an honest question... and I'm really not trying to be a smartass.

Why? I mean is it because you just like riding that much? Can't use other forms of transportation? Or just want to post on the internet how much of an ironman you are? (Okay, that last part was kinda smartass. Tongue )

I've never been mistaken for committed to the cause but I just can't see how riding in weather like this would be enjoyable.

It builds character? :dunno:

I dont mind riding in the wet, but I did punt and drive the truck today.

If you've got proper attire it doesn't bother you. A simple $40 rain suit, non-leather gloves and boots and you show up to work just as dry as you would otherwise. And depending on your commute it saves enough time to make it worth it, or at least still keeps it more fun than in a car.

But that said, I'm still driving my truck. I don't think I've ridden since I did the Ducati Days

- Ginger - 10-26-2007

If it's raining when I leave the house in the morning, I drive. I don't like the hassle of putting on special pants to ride.

- PGK - 10-26-2007

Honestly, I don't have a good answer. I ride motorcycles. It's what I do. Driving isn't a consideration.

New years day ride FTW Smile

- Ginger - 01-02-2008

The New Year's Day ride was cool... probably would've been better if I didn't have to pee for half of it.

But the first ride to work? That was retarded.

The day I can't wear heated gear in this weather is the day I decide to stop riding year round.

The bike almost didn't start...

So far, I've been relatively unimpressed with Odyssey's products. The BMW has a PC680 battery in it; it was ~20 degrees this morning and it had a very hard time getting the bike started. I was afraid, for a minute, that it wasn't going to start. I'm sure some of the hard-starting had to do with everything else being so cold, but the battery seemed to be struggling. My friend Paul was using a PC680 for a while in his Accord and it died a lot sooner than I think a traditional battery would have. Another friend, Alex, has been using a PC310 in his 600 and it let him down in traffic sooner that I would have thought it should.

I really like the idea of dry cell batteries. They're supposed to be impervious to the cold, deliver reeally high cold cranking amps, maintain high output longer than their liquid filled counterparts, and overall just Not Suck. Does anybody have experience with other brands of dry or gel cells that is better than mine has been? I really can't afford to be stuck at home becauseI couldn't get my stuff to start.

At 20 degrees, buy a car Wink

zackly what i thought

- Ginger - 01-03-2008

Confusedhrug:

I'm not complaining. 19 degrees on the RT feels like high 30's on my naked bikes [and I didn't have any of the heated gear turned on]. I like riding it...

- .RJ - 01-03-2008

Maybe its the type of tire I've always used, but I just dont have any confidence in the tires to do anything other than hold the bike up in the garage when its below freezing.
