Appreciate it. Don't think I'll be making any solo trips any time soon. The baby will only be 2ish months old.
If you hit Camden yards (can't remember if you ever did) let me know. We can drink at Pickles and then go watch the Orioles lose.

Are you suggesting a flight from DC to NYC? The train will be cheaper if you book far enough in advance. Otherwise drive. By the time you get through security and on and off a plane you could already be in NYC.

I usually take the train to the NY Auto Show now. Door to door it tends be faster/easier and usually cheaper. Even if it's not much cheaper, it's a lot more comfortable. Lots of good eats at Penn Station too.

In my experience, they're both about $100-$150 round trip, depending on details. With pre-check and a carry on, the time taken for flying and train are both about four hours. Proximity to airport and train station is obviously a huge influencer.

Driving would be my last choice because fuck being on 95 for 200+ miles and paying to park in NYC. I also don't have a problem hopping on a plane, so there's that.

The thing about the NYC drive, is normally it's 4 hours, but sometimes it can spike up to 5-7 hours with accidents and construction. Train and plane are always going to be about the same amount of time.
I kinda halfway thought about getting a job in NYC where I could work remotely and just commute up there once a week or so. I could take a 4-5 am train, then get back home by like 9 or 10 pm.

Any suggestions for Louisville or St. Louis? Gonna spend a night in Louisville in a few weekends then a week in St. Louis for work. Gonna take my wife to a Cardinals game while where there, but also looking for other ideas if you have ever traveled there.

In St. Louis, take the Anheuser Busch tour. Pay the $20ish for the better tour. Its totally worth it. It was definitely something I enjoyed. If you are staying downtown, be aware that the local places all close early in the evening so there isn't a ton of nightlife.

I've heard rumors that parts of Lousiville are ROUGH and sketchy. I guess that goes for any city, but just thought I'd throw that out there as I had a friend just drive across country and she stayed in Louisville her first night. Not a good experience.

my wife was in Memphis for a conference a couple weeks back and one of her students almost got relieved of his wallet right off of Beale. alot of those midwest cities seem to be pretty dicey as soon as you get off the main drag.

I appreciate the heads up, I’ll keep my eyes open, I never travel without a few weapons. We’re going to do the Evan Williams tour as well as the Louisville Slugger tour, both of which are within walking distance of our hotel, then grab dinner.
Only thing my wife is worried about is the Mississippi River in St. Louis, it’s the 2nd highest it’s been in a long time, and she doesn’t like water.

Well her fears came true, we got an email at 6:45pm tonight telling us our conference was cancelled because the Mississippi flooded and knocked out power and sewer to our hotel. But, we had already made the drive to Louisville, so we decided to enjoy the rest of our day/night here since we had a room.
We did the Louisville Slugger tour, which was awesome. There is so much more that goes into making bats, especially for professional players, than I ever thought. Left with a souvenir mini-bat too. We had tickets to the 2:40pm Evan Williams tour but we got done early at the Slugger tour so they let us in on the 2:20pm one. There was only 7 of us and a guy with a Western Michigan shirt on started talking to me about the JMU shirt I had one and we hit it off. Once we started the tour it was clear that he and I were the only real drinkers in the group, so the guide sorta catered it towards us a little and didn’t care that we drank the samples poured for our wives. The tour was ok, very informative, but not much actual viewing of how it is made, unlike the Slugger tour. Exchanged numbers with my new Michigan friend fully expecting to never see him again and checked into the hotel. He messages us and says he’s at a nearby bar if we wanted to join. It was literally right next door to our hotel, so we went. Spent the next 3-4 hours bar/restaurant hopping with him and our wives and had an absolute blast. His wife is a social worker and he’s retired Air Force and has a Harley, which both are awesome to me.
I guess we are out for St. Louis and since refunds aren’t available I guess I’m just eating the $70 I paid for Cardinals tickets. I should still get 2 days Perdiem and the parking charge at the hotel, hopefully, but, even if they don’t give me anything, it was worth the trip. I’d come back to Louisville. Pretty much everyone we talked to was super nice and helpful. Our hotel was kinda in the “hipster” district of Louisville, which isn’t exactly my speed, but you can be guaranteed it’s clean and safe. One guy sorta was creeping up on us once in the middle of downtown (not where our hotel is) and I made eye contact with him, let him know I saw him, and he backed off and went on. Other than that, great trip.
We are debating taking a few more days (wife has already put in leave and my office isn't’ expecting me anyways), and exploring some more of this area. Haven’t made up our minds yet.

Check your credit card - many have travel insurance that will reimburse you for losses due to things like flooding.
I'm also pretty sure your friends story is how most swingers stories start.
