It’s an certified PITA trying to chase down cars in this price range which are likely to have major issues, and you can waste a lot of time looking at cars that owners or dealers swear are tip top but have major issues. I don’t want to buy a $500 plane ticket to SoCal to look at a 5g car.... only to have it be a POS. I certainly don’t want to have one shipped sight unseen.

It’s a different deal than what RJ or Lee does frequently, where you are in a price / year / mileage range that everything is likely to be OK so far as you buy from a reputable dealer.

It makes sense, but given what you're looking at you might want to expand that bubble to include "within a day's drive with a friend to inspect & return with the car". Grill the shit out of the seller on the phone and ask for photos that would embarrass a BaT ad.

No to Civic SI, 2 doors. No to Maserati, because herpes. That Mercedes 430 looks really clean, but I was never impressed with Aaron Gs 430CLK and the interiors on those cars are really cheap.

The Audi looks clean, but wow the miles. Also a v10 only making 435hp? Come on.

And yes that is what I was getting at. You can easily double your radius and still be back in a day with or without the car if it turns out to suck.

While the 540i w/ M5 shit that I posted up has pictures that look like they were taken with a potato and a terribad description, it also has 2 binders of receipts. Looking promising. Going to look at it ~730 am Thursday if you want to tag along.
