*snooze* Do I have to listen to dumb overplayed jokes about fat americans, them killing off celebrities, Jeremy being bad with directions, and the same old "shtick" every episode?

When does the next Top Gear come out?  I never thought Top Gear would be able to compete without Jeremy and team but I was wrong.  With Rory and Chris Harris it's better.  And Top Gear just nails the cinematography better.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - WRXtranceformed - 12-10-2017

I thought the first episode of the new season was great! They got rid of the celebrity brain crash thank God, and no American. They replaced it with a different version of Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. Seeing the whole lead up to the Rimac crash was pretty crazy...some of the things Hammond said were eerie knowing what was going to happen at the hill climb

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - Jake - 12-10-2017

It felt a lot more like "the gang's all back" like old Top Gear and I really enjoyed it. Much more cohesiveness. Definitely looking forward to the rest of the season if they keep it up like this first episode (with fewer life-threatening crashes).

The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - JPolen01 - 12-10-2017

Great to hear. I pretty much gave up on the first season after the first two episodes. I've been hoping the second will be better.

The fact it is in UHD is amazing.... Holy crap I love my new TV.

Side note, the 4k/HDR on Netflix doesn't seem as clear as UHD on Amazon, anyone else have that issue?

Probably AWS making sure Netflix bitrates are lower than Amazon Video.

Are fire tv's 4k ready? Looks like my TV has the Amazon app built in but just curious. I thought only Chromecast ultra was 4k ready. Been waiting to pull the trigger on upgrading Netflix account to 4k until they actually get content I watch. So far, it's only shows I've already watched or like one show I'm going to watch (stranger things 2) but don't feel like spending the extra money (especially with price hike) for one show.

I haven't even watched anything in 4k on my new TV yet and I've had it 3 months Sad

Same - Netflix still looks amazing but just slightly.... grainy?

The crash part was eery, i was watching with all the lights off so when they blacked it out the room literally went pitch black with just the noise. Gave me goosebumps.

The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - JustinG - 12-11-2017

Yea, grainy.

Depends on which one. The current generation is HDR10 and 4K and the previous generation is just 4K.

Nearly everything i've watched in netflix is in 4K (mindhunter, godless, Stranger things, Punisher, etc) just get the UHD plan and split it with someone since it allows for up to 6 streams i think.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - Jake - 12-11-2017

The FireTV Stick (the cheapest one) does not do 4K, but the FireTV box will do it. They're $55 right now on Amazon.

The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - Sully - 12-11-2017

Looks like I have a first generation which is only good to 1080p from the info I can find on it. But the TV has Netflix and Amazon already on it and I like the smartcast interface so I should be alright. I'll have to check out grand tour now, if for no other reason than to watch something in 4k HDR.

It sounds like the changes you guys talked about would help bring me back too. Like the rest of, probably everyone, celebrity brain crash and the American were the two things that made me want to turn it off almost instantly. I did make it to like the 3rd to last episode of season one though before I got too bored and gave up.

Do you have to activate 4k stuff on Amazon? My TV is supposed to have another menu of settings once you're watching 4k stuff and it's not coming up and I'm not sure I can tell a difference in the picture quality

Nvm. Found it. It's a different selection. In prime

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - JustinG - 12-11-2017

Yea, UHD is a separate listing from the normal HD stuff, so make sure you are picking the UHD version.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - Ken - 12-11-2017

That drives me nuts btw.

But yeah, if you're not seeing it, try updating the app.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - .RJ - 12-12-2017

The new test track sucks.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - JustinG - 12-12-2017

I dunno if they are gonna use that for testing, or just the celebrity driving segment.

No way they are gonna take million dollar cars through that gravel.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - .RJ - 12-12-2017

It sucks for everything.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - WRXtranceformed - 12-12-2017

I definitely cringed when they were hooning that F-Type through the gravel part. But yeah there's no chance that will be the "official" track. To be honest even the old track they found for the American segment was sketchy as hell. They need to find a permanent, high quality track to race that stuff on if they're going to do it.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - SlimKlim - 12-13-2017

I got a perverse pleasure from seeing a brand new F-type getting thrashed on gravel, but I like to watch the world burn.
