Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-13-2015 ![]() I DID IT. HELL YES. MY LIFE. OH MY GOD. YESSSSSDD Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-13-2015 SlimKlim Wrote:Out of a JMU themed Donk?! What more could you ask for?! That one was new since the last time I went there on Monday. I was on my way out after digging through a "91 Sable" to find out after I tore the dash off that it was actually a 92. So I was pissed. I looked at every single 90-91 ford in the lot and spotted this as I walked out. Looked inside and the part was actually sitting in the floorboard. I couldn't get the old module out of mine, so I just shoved the new one up in there. :dunno: Ordering brakes now and I'm putting my tires on this weekend. Inspection on Monday. ![]() P.S. Selling 95 Miata glove box and 93 Taurus Airbag module. Tell your friends. Glad to see this thing is coming together so quickly! The rest of us could take a page out of your book. I still need to get the goddamn exhaust welded up on the e36  Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-13-2015 Don't jinx me, man! Brake parts ordered minus front rotors. To add front rotors would be an extra $50 since they shipped from a different warehouse. I'll check the Advance AutozoneO'Reilys to see what's around for those. They should get here next week, so inspection will have to wait. Unless I can find somewhere that'll pass me without. I swear my old shop never did check for brakes. YESSSSSDD:lol: Re: Whole lotta Miata - navin - 05-13-2015 I'm assuming you have Amazon prime since your still a student... they have rotors on there that usually qualify for Prime shipping.... Prices are about the same as well. Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-13-2015 Yup. Have some sitting in my cart right now but they'd put me in the red after some bills coming up. Just went out and looked. Rear rotors are thick, but I think they're warped. RR pad is non-existent. Backing plate is almost on the rotor. RL Pad is in good shape. Front rotors are ... okay. They'll probably pass inspection but both sets of pads are pretty much gone. I hope it's the rear rotors that are warped since I bought some. Re: Whole lotta Miata - SlimKlim - 05-13-2015 Just do each axle even if you have to wait for another paycheck to get it done. You don't wanna put new pads on an old rotor. Re: Whole lotta Miata - Jake - 05-13-2015 Yeah, do an axle at a time if you have to. Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-13-2015 Sounds like a plan, guys. Man, white with these NB wheels is just the tits. Once I get the hood fixed, this could be a pretty snazzy little car.
Re: Whole lotta Miata - Jake - 05-13-2015 I always thought NB wheels looked right at home on the NA's. I like them a lot more than the daisy wheels that the NA6 got. The NA8 wheels were all relatively attractive to me (mine got the elusive 'hollow-spoke' variant). I always liked the 96 M-Edition rimzz but they were heavy, so I never pursued finding a set. Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-15-2015 Fronts aren't too bad. The rear right on the other hand... ![]() Ryan, here are your slicks.
Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-15-2015 Okay. It's pissing coolant now. Thought it was the thermostat housing so I got a new gasket. Still leaking. Leake is running down the dead center of the block and is not coming from the thermostat. What could it be? ![]()
Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-15-2015 This is probably the water pump, right? God dammit. But I dont. Re: Whole lotta Miata - V1GiLaNtE - 05-15-2015 Senor_Taylor Wrote:This is probably the water pump, right? God dammit. Water pumps should be cheap, no? Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-15-2015 I'm not worried about doing it. It's just the fact that it decided to let go TODAY. I have the wheels off to mount my tires and do my brakes to inspect it and drive it.. and this happens. Also means I have to do an entire timing belt job... Re: Whole lotta Miata - Senor_Taylor - 05-15-2015 Yeah, screw this. I'll guess this thing will sit until July or August when I can pay someone to put this on. This is way over my skill level for now. This is way over my skill level for now. You got it! Don't give up. $68 in parts and you can learn. (holy fuck I just paid $199 for a thermostat for the SE46 and $189 for the water pump) http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/DC/ ... gQod_lgAEw And how to do it http://www.miata.net/garage/timingbelt.html Re: Whole lotta Miata - Goodspeed - 05-15-2015 Are the hoses ok? Neck at the radiator not cracking off letting coolant dribble down the hose? (speculating) If it is the WP... There is also a really good writeup in this book. ![]() FM even makes helpful tools for the job including this little cam gear holder. I almost did it on mine at JMU, but it was my DD and I was working at the time so I had Faul's on Pear Street do it. $250 or so and it was done in a day, if you go that route. But I think you could knock it out pretty easily. |
