Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Tyler.M - 02-28-2015 does iracing have options to restrict races with people utilizing the same views? it seems like someone with a single monitor might be at a disadvantage v someone with multiples. Here are my specs : I7 4790k z97 a asus mobo 8gb 1600hz ddr3 gtx 970 sc with cooling mx100 256 ssd 1 tb 720p rpm hdd asus 24 inch monitor I'm eventually going to upgrade to either a 980 gtx evga card when the prices come down or do an sli set up with the 970 gtx. budget didnt allow for multiple monitors right now but i'm going to start with some vanilla racing sims for the first few months until i think im ready for iracing. set up should be ready just in tome for project cars and i can always mess around in Asetto Corsa if i dont like it. Re: Racing Simulator Thread - RawrImAMonster - 03-13-2015 Get one of these too, it will allow you to overclock the 4790k a good bit and still keep it cool. Even if you don't it will still run way cooler than the stock heatsink/fan. I have a similar Asus mobo and it doesn't like how slow the upgraded fan runs so you'll probably have to lower you cpu fan alert in the bios if you do get one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835103099 Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Tyler.M - 03-13-2015 got one of those too! everywhere i read recommended it. I was wrong on what mobo i ordered, i actually got a gigabyte z97x black edition Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Tyler.M - 03-14-2015 went ahead and upgraded to an evga 980gtx ac 2.0 sc. found one for a good deal Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Evan - 03-17-2015 racing games arent nearly as graphic intensive as the popular fps games etc. if thats your focus, you should be able to drive 3 monitors off one 980gtx Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Tyler.M - 03-17-2015 Evan Wrote:racing games arent nearly as graphic intensive as the popular fps games etc. if thats your focus, you should be able to drive 3 monitors off one 980gtx Good to know. I know this rig I'm building is pretty overkill for a lot of modern games but I wanted something that offers me unlimited options. I'm also really interested in getting back into space/flight sims and strategy gaming which always benefit from some enhanced computing/graphical prowess. I may even go full nerd and start streaming, eventually, for local charities once a week or so. Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Tyler.M - 03-21-2015 computer is built and running smoothly. going to start on AC first to see if I like all of this stuff Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Tyler.M - 03-28-2015 Dudebros i have the weekend off and will be enjoying the finest whiskey sours while I do some livestreaming of AC and Elite: Dangerous. I figured out that I can take donations for livestreaming if I wanted to which (if I makeba consistent stream) could net a couple hundred bucks a year to a local charity. I always like to have some purpose to my goofy hobbies. I'll shoot a link to the strram when I get it rolling Re: Racing Simulator Thread - JPolen01 - 03-28-2015 Live stream? Is that just to watch you play? I don't get it. Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Tyler.M - 03-29-2015 JPolen01 Wrote:Live stream? Is that just to watch you play? I don't get it.Yeah, I know it sounds weird but its actually pretty popular and can be a fun way to add something to a gaming experience. Renting is sort of the past now so if theres a game I'm looking to get I can hop on twitch, find someone playing it and ask them questions about their impressions and such. It's also a good way for people to remain involved with a gaming community when they aren't playing, since little micro communities build around a particular stream, when it gets traction. Re: Racing Simulator Thread - BLINGMW - 05-06-2015 Any recommendations on a decent rally game for PC? Last I played was WRC on the PS2. It appears I have WRC 4 and Dirt 3 to choose from, though the best "sim" people say is a 10yr old Richard Burns Rally. Any thoughts on these? Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Senor_Taylor - 05-06-2015 I used to stream when I was younger. Made a few thousand off of it and my stream was pretty huge. I was actually one of the original like 500 or so broadcasters on Justin.tv (Precursor to what is now Twitcht) and still have a large amount of e-mails with the founders discussing features and stuff. I was a "Producer" meaning my channel was approved by the Admins to represent the best of the best and my channel would be featured on the main page of JTV from time to time, which meant a few thousand viewers at any one time. Most of my friends from there have either became admins, or their channel is so popular that they've quit their regular job and live off of the broadcasting money. I don't have the time or money for it and my interests have changed, but it can and IS a huge and very popular thing to do. "Microcommunites" is an understatement. I had people that knew my schedule and would show up before my stream even started. I was apart of a "community" called GameOn which was kind of a syndicate of the best of the best at the time. The creator is one of the biggest broadcasters on the planet and has been in Xbox Magazine before. I used to be a moderator in his channel too, which made me feel cool. http://swiftor.com/forum.php Here is my old channel if you want to listen to my pre-pubescent days. http://www.twitch.tv/partybusgaming. I know a half of a million view doesn't seem like a lot, but that was HUGE 6 years ago on the internet. Let me know if you have any questions. I haven't been relevant for a long time, but I still remember a thing or two. Re: Racing Simulator Thread - BLINGMW - 05-07-2015 No Taylor Brah for me thanks. OK, went with nothing I said before, there's a new DiRT Rally that is still in development. People are saying it's really more of a sim than DiRT 2 and 3. Downloading. Re: Racing Simulator Thread - Evan - 05-08-2015 yeah i was going to say there is some new rally game. read a brief bit about it while looking for Project CARS reviews. Re: Racing Simulator Thread - BLINGMW - 05-08-2015 Evan Wrote:yeah i was going to say there is some new rally game. read a brief bit about it while looking for Project CARS reviews.Played it for a couple hours last night, it um... well I've turned just about everything off to get a decent frame rate despite meeting the system requirements pretty well, but I've got a long way to go to making it good. FOV, head tilt, wheel settings, all wacky and hard to adjust. And graphics seem really muddy on any settings. Will comment further if/when I get it going right. Re: Racing Simulator Thread - BLINGMW - 06-01-2015 I still haven't fooled with it enough to review, but I do need to try Pikes Peak, this looks incredible hock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTiWn9KSMyg (too bad it won't look that good on mine...) |
