Jake Wrote:The motor in Boobies' car is an Eta, but so is the motor in Garrett's black coupe (it's an es).

Yeah I was going to address that also. Both of us have the same motor. I never understood what exactly was different between the E and the ES models.

Re: MM Chump car - JustinG - 01-30-2013

Boobies has a spare motor fyi....he said he would chime in sometime tonight.

Re: MM Chump car - Chris - 01-30-2013

Hey everyone,

I'm glad Justin pointed me here today; I definitely don't get on here enough to see some of the new ideas you all are tossing around. It's exciting to see interest in a chump car build... definitely will have its challenges, but I think it would really bring members together and be a great learning experience.

I've actually thought the e30 I have would be a great car for the club to take on, but wasn't sure how the logistics of owning, titling, registering, etc. would work. If this seems like an e30 you want to consider, I am all for helping it be a reality. If you work out a budget, I will definitely consider a lower price than what I have it listed for. I do not currently have any serious offers on it, and could put the sale on hold for some time if needed. As mentioned, I also have a 2.5L M20B25 engine out of a 1988 BMW 325i.

I was thinking of making an appearance at the party this weekend, but I'm not sure just yet. I'd be glad to go over this more if I can make it. Thanks for thinking of the car... good luck with all this!

How is this for a deal? Ran accross a thread on an E30 forum and this deal is crazy.

Re: MM Chump car - Chris - 02-04-2013

Hey guys,

I have been asked by 2 people recently if I could sell one or both seats separately from the car. I wanted to check with you all first to see if I should save these. I don't want to rush your decision, just want to know if this car is still a possibility for the club.

Re: MM Chump car - JPolen01 - 02-04-2013

I think from our discussions this weekend, we decided it may be cost prohibitive to use your car for chump because of the amount of aftermarket parts. I would say sell whatever you need to because we are still in the logistics phase and it might be some time before we get rolling. Other can chime in...

Yeah I think that was the general consensus from everyone this weekend. Unfortunately it would be too much to change around the cage and replace all the things. It would be better off to start from a stock car. But as for your car, I still am interested in buying it. I just need someone to hurry up and buy my Subaru.

Re: MM Chump car - CaptainHenreh - 02-04-2013

Jesus, you guys are still talking about this?

I had hoped this would die but seriously, this is the worst idea I've ever heard.

Sorry but I have to agree. Love the idea but the logistics just aren't there. If JMU would kick in, it could be awesome but they never would. Too much risk and they have to piss our money away on more useless signs that count cars in a parking deck incorrectly.

Re: MM Chump car - Chris - 02-05-2013

I completely understand and appreciate you guys considering the e30 I have. Best of luck if you guys go through with this!

Re: MM Chump car - premiershine9 - 02-05-2013

After speaking this weekend I think we can agree..... we need $.....and a significant amount of it to do this. It's a great idea and I'd love to do it and get the club to eventually have their own chump car but..... we have to be realistic about this. If I could underline and bold "realistic" to be bigger than the page I would.

Unless someone is willing to sponsor for nearly every penny that would go into this- the car, fuel, transportation.....even covering some safety equip costs so that the club could have helmets or suits its just not going to happen.

Right now my focus is making the car show the best it can be, the two track events we are attending soon and finishing off the year better than we started it.
Garrett, Jon, see if we can get sponsorship of some sort.

Thank you! I do beleive this can be done, but it should be one of the last things we think of during this year. I want to see a blow-out car show, a great karting event, and tons of people out to the track!

John/Garrett, please keep hammering away at finding details for $. If you guys can get some money together, there are outrageous deals on already prepped chump cars that we should be interested in picking up. I still would like to see this happen as it would be a great experience for the club.

Re: MM Chump car - ispoonwithmugen - 02-05-2013

Yeah at this point be realistic it isn't going to happen this year. We would definitely be better off buying someone else's car that's built also. Why build one when we can get one for pennies on a dollar? As for funding, I have talked with a few other groups at JMU that have needed to raise a FEW thousand, not 8 thousand, and they said they sent requests to family members, did JMU safe rides (5 dollar ride on weekend anywhere at JMU), and got some alumni to chip in. I definitely want to make this happen, even if it isn't something that I could enjoy while I am here. On a side note, does anyone know a good place to put the BMW up for sale at? I really need to get that thing gone (and not lose too much money on it).

700 if you're actually serious, haha. Brand new tail lights fit in. Runs perfect but I need to figure out was wires I missed when putting the dash back in. The windows don't roll down (sunroof does), brake lights aren't working (running lights do), and the cluster isn't working.
