Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Kaan - 08-02-2016 I'm looking for 6-7 inch 500-525lbs springs for my ground control setup... just in case you guys have anything laying around. i'm probably going to screw up the cars handling and try to stiffen the front up a bit... i'm hoping to keep the splitter from dragging all over, and possibly help with some of my body roll. Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Kaan - 08-08-2016 I made some progress over the weekend... mostly on Sunday thanks to Jason. The used head is all screwed up, i had to order another Time Sert set for the exhaust studs... of course one is jacked up (aka - the bolt just slides right in). i'm just hoping it holds together for Dominion and Summit. I was hoping to make VIR but I'll be on travel for work Starting Friday I'll be a geo-bachelor... and since i took Friday off... i'll have 3 days to try to get as much as i can done. 1. fix the exhaust stud 2. adjust the valve clearances 3. seal up the motor and hook all my hoses (haha) 4. cut the weight off the AC/torque mount bracket and paint it 5. Seal and refit the hatch/mount the wing of doom 6. replace rear hubs (i have a feeling i'll need a couple beers to get the inner races off) 7. finish/paint front splitter 8. swap front springs and put in PCI front camber arms 9. adjust the suspension/set ride height and repair rear swaybar bushings 10. wire up the fan and coolant gauge 11. oil and trans fluid change once all that is done i should be able to fire it up and see what happens. as long as i think its running okay i'll schedule my dyno appointment. Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - navin - 08-08-2016 Word on the street is there might be a change to the 'ducting' rule, but who knows. I think you'll be fine without and just use some weather seal material to seal whatever gaps you can for the time being. Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - rherold9 - 08-08-2016 One thing I'm not looking forward to in getting a honderp is cooling issues. Especially since you already have an upgraded radiator and still having issues. Especially since you already have an upgraded radiator and still having issues. I bought the car with a pretty bad radiator leak and the previous owner was like "oh i topped it off every day before i drove it." lol...I DO NOT attribute my head gasket issue to not enough cooling. I could quote Navin prior to my first event in the car telling me my HG was going to go lol... the car had 240k miles on the original HG... i'm sure it went on its own. You heard a couple of bubbles (so did i), there was very little oil in the radiator, and i was hard pressed to find the leak when examining the head/gasket/block. it wasnt catastrophic making me lean toward it was just an old gasket that had been abused. what i am doing, since i still run a thermostat, is making sure its even more efficient AND making sure i can accurately track the temperature. Honda gauges are notoriously bad. they have 3 readings... "cold/not reading, warm/reading, and OMGURSCREWED." I always attempt to over do things, so in the future i dont have to deal with it again. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesnt... Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Kaan - 03-06-2017 SO… its been a long time since I updated this thread. Mostly because my oldness learned the joys of facebook. BUT I still feel there needs to be a chronical of the struggles that doesn’t disappear down a timeline so you childrens can be learned. I learned some very valuable lessons (old dogs can learn)… 1. Buying used motors/heads/etc is 100% a crap shoot. JDM importers suck… facebook sellers are idiots… if you buy it used and you don’t have to do a complete rebuild, you are lucky. 2. As you age, protect your back. Hurting your back will set you back for a long time. True back pain will haunt you 3. Don’t believe anything you read on the internets… these ricer kids don’t know squat about squad 4. Read, research, talk to the pros, and really think things out… it will pay off. 5. There is never enough time to finish a project… planning for every disaster will keep your bases covered but it still takes a long time to fix stuff. So I left off doing the used head swap and when I was wrapping things up… I realized I was $600+ into the head and I was having to use JB weld to hold some things together. I didn’t like that idea at all. Yes I wasted a ton of money due to crappy sellers, crappy head, and a water pump bolt that snapped off in the block. So I bought the B20B… I checked it out, looked clean, blah blah. I went to pull up the truck and the dumb jdm importer kid pulled a different motor that was CAKED in burnt oil. Also, my garage was a disaster. Parts on top of parts, stacks of crap, etc. I had to clean just to start working on the car lol ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Kaan - 03-06-2017 Determined to not be held back, I did a little garage port work at 7/8 inch (1 inch is the rule) and I took my old LS head to the machine shop. The internet said the P75 LS head is the same as the P75 B20b head that was on my B20… while the head was at the shop I would take the B20 apart to see how bad the sludge really was. It needed an oil pan gasket, so I figured lets get really into it. I ordered parts (supertech valves, supertech guides, supertech valve clips, brian crower duel valve springs/seats/and steel retainers, OEM head gasket, plastigauge kit, ARP studs, OEM rod bolts, etc. etc. with hookups and all I was set to rebuild the $300 B20B for $700. I also found some 6 inch 500lbs springs and helper springs… ![]() I took the week off between Christmas and New Years. Having two families and the biggest house in both families meant the holidays were booked, but I was determined to get things done. In the 8 days I have off, I was only able to dedicate 3 full days to the car. But it was well worth it. Tuesday December 27, 2017… was a beautiful day. 50ish degrees and sunny. The LS head was back from the machine shop, the block was measured, OEM bearings were in, etc. So for the first 4 hours I built the B20B with the P75 head. I even bought myself a ¼ inch mini impact and new tq wrench to make life easy… and boy did it. Everything went together super smoothly. I couldn’t be happier. ![]() I spent the next 4 hours pulling the engine and trans out alone… it was pretty easy going, nice weather, not too many beers (after building the motor… I had 4 while building the motor lol)… I went middle of the road with the bearings, I was able to chase any questionable threads, I only broke one clip, and I didn’t fight to get the engine out.
Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Kaan - 03-06-2017 ![]() I decided to seal my shock towers and prep the front suspension. I also did a power steering delete, looped my rack/spliced my lines/installed a feed resivour/etc. ![]() ![]() ![]() I got the “built” engine in… I needed a new clutch, the new one event flywheel has some scorch marks lol… oh well… ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Kaan - 03-06-2017 ![]() ![]() ![]() Proof my plate LSD was working hard the 5 sessions I had on track with it. ![]() spent several days cleaning it up, hacking up vinyl lol…and chasing down the distributor problem (broken teeth)… and trashed the night before the dyno day with Jasons help… one of my issues was the internets… the obd2 b20b block and a obd1 P75 head don’t place nice… I had to shave a little over 3mm off the block to get the header to mate to the head… I still had to set ride height and wire the fan… and got it ready and was in bed before midnight. Up at 6am and off to manassas to play at Ptuning. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Many people gave me crap for going there. The dyno isn’t NASA certified, the dyno reads “low” (5-15%ish),you need to go to a better tuner, etc … but I was already in for my deposit and had things worked out… and one of the “JVHC” kids works there… and I like to support small business. You post a little on facebook and you guys blew up my phone wanting numbers ASAP. If they were just average, I wasn’t going to give away squat. If they were low, I would post to figure out why, if they were super high I would post to shake my non vtec butt at people (I’m still a slow driver). Well if you follow me on the facebooks… you know I posted it. My phone was telling me I had texts and facebook messages while I was towing home (and someone posted in “things around NOVA” with a picture of me towing… calling it a track ready integra… little does he know its still not really ready). Anyway, the conservative dyno says I’m 7hp above the “highest” dynojet numbers for a B20 that Spencer is claiming, I’m basically making useable power to 8k, its WAY more power than my B18B, and I’m stoked…. Except when I cage the car and go racing, I need to carry at least 171lbs of extra weight lol… Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Kaan - 03-06-2017 ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hwywj4aOgQ Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-06-2017 Not legal dyno....
Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Kaan - 03-06-2017 the internet (which i have proven to be wrong) and Ptuning said that their dyno reads low. so it will be higher on the legal dyno in theory. I'll see what really happens one of these days if they can squeeze me in on the dyno for some power pulls. i'm just happy that i have a healthy motor and it lived through this dyno day. we shall see how long it lasts since its making power to 7600 and useable power to 8k Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Goodspeed - 03-06-2017
Re: Project: Integra Type Dickbutt - Jake - 03-06-2017 How many miles did the original motor hang in there for? |
