Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-09-2016 Yup, you move around a lot more than you think in an accident. Also, awesome on getting all that stuff together. Probably biggest step towards getting comfortable in the car! Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Kaan - 03-09-2016 i told you you needed roll bar padding, i didnt tell you to buy pool floaties. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 03-09-2016 Okay, sounds good. I'll have to return the pool floaties. Jake, I don't think I will have it installed by then and/or idk if I'll be able to make the Summit event. But I'll know more later. Edit: Thank you for the kind words. Hoping to feel like I can push the car a bit more and get a little faster as well. Be nice to also be able to take more passengers in my car to help me get faster once I'm in DE3. If you're un-helmeted on the street, the SFI-rated stick will save your life but can still give you a concussion as it's not "soft", that's where this dual density padding comes into play. http://www.ogracing.com/bsci-dual-durometer-sfi-rated-roll-bar-padding-3 Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 03-17-2016 Looks like roll bar ETA will be the 28th or 29th. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Senor_Taylor - 03-17-2016 Things are moving so quickly. How do I get off of this crazy ride?!?!? Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 03-21-2016 So, I'm not sure if Kaan will be available to help me with this. So, I was wondering if any alumni would have an available weekend before May 21st to help install the seats, harnesses, and roll bar? I'm a safety noob and never have been around or seen a proper installation of safety stuff. I don't feel too good about doing it myself yet and I don't own a welder. I understand how it installs (drill holes, seal reinforcement plates go outside or inside of the car on the bottom of the chassis, weld, eye bolts go through hole and spin on to the reinforcement plate). Roll bar is bolt in as well. Should be similar to the reinforcement plates as the harnesses. Anyways, if anyone could help that would be great or I can see how much a shop in Hburg can do it for or I just have to wait until after Hyperfest. Edit: supposedly the plates don't need to be welded. So, no welder necessary I guess. And of course I'll buy beer or whatever Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Gordonovski - 03-21-2016 If I'm in town I'll help! You are more than welcome to come up and work on it at my place but I know you guys think "NOVA" is so far! Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Jake - 03-22-2016 I'm happy to come over to DJ's and heckle/help if you bring the car up our way. No welding required, the biggest thing to check is the location of your mounting points for the waist and sub harnesses. This is a good read: https://www.schrothracing.com/sdocs/200 ... ctions.pdf Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 03-22-2016 Things I'll need to buy for the job: silicone, spray paint, center punch, and drill bit set with at least a 7/16" and smaller (also need to see the size of the roll bar bolts). Jake, I've been looking at correct mounting online. I don't think we will have issue with the tunnel belts (sub) as they just may be a little uneven in height. There is empty space under the seat on the inside of the seat bracket. The outside lap belts may have an issue with rubbing. We'll just have to see. There are no write-ups on this for my car so I'm going to try to do a short one with a few pictures. Is anyone free the weekend before Hyperfest? That would be the 14th of May. Edit: Kaan said he is willing to let me borrow drill bits and to check to see if DJ has any to spare? Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Jake - 03-22-2016 That's fine re: sub belts, you can adjust the length of each side individually to compensate if one ends up being a bit higher than the other. I bet there will be more room than you think for the lap belts - we can make something work. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-22-2016 Ill be out out of town the weekend before hyperfest. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-22-2016 Between now and then I have one weekend free, May 7th. Let me confirm on that though, nothing on our calendar yet. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 03-22-2016 Lol, that's graduation weekend. Rip safety install until after Hyperfest I guess. I really don't feel comfortable by myself without a little guidance on drilling or positioning of harnesses and such. Screw it I'll just check ride to 3 then do safety equipment after. Honestly just try doing it yourself. It really isn't brain science. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 03-22-2016 Well I may have a mangina about drilling holes through my car and not doing it properly and installing things incorrectly and being worse off than a 3 point. All serious that might be an issue. I'm remember them running right under the seats. Haven't looked in awhile though so could be wrong. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |
