Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 01-12-2015 T-minus 20 minutes ![]() 19 years overdue, but we'll finally see it roll onto stage. Probably won't get exact specs, might get "more than XXX horsepower", " weighs less than XXX". Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 01-12-2015 Nice dude!!! Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 01-12-2015 Oh shit, Seinfeld's in the house Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk Re: Automotive News Discussion - davej - 01-12-2015 it's been +3, i keep hitting refresh, but still no pics! don't keep us waiting G! Honda doesn't take peak output of each electric motor and add it to peak gas engine horsepower. So figure somewhere around 500 HP + 120+ for the electric motors. They showed video of the car launching, it definitely looks like it'll be able to hit 60 with something like a 911 turbo or GTR. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 01-12-2015 I can't wait to see how Acura screws up the commercial for the NSX. I'm sure they'll find a way to include that straight talking salesman and Sid Vicious music  It's nice and all but man...you had 10 years to unveil it, and you picked today... Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 01-12-2015 i'm glad ford "moved on" with the GT design....and by moved on i mean not being leashed to the same majorly retro design. you can only rehash the classic GT40 so many times (not to mention the 20 different kit car reruns out there), and i think the '05 was a fine evolutionary step. honestly i see new GT as being very faithful to the old GT40, between the classic headlights, front intake and radiator exhaust, the front/rear fender haunches, peaky front windscreen, super wide sills and integral bucket seats, etc. the silhouette has pancaked out a bit and lost some of the definition but its still very much a supercar. it grinds my gears a little that there's no V8, but i wonder if the v6 was necessary as part of the aero package for space reasons. frankly its still going to be proper fast, but what gets me pumped is the fact that Ford has now officially made this a halo powertrain, which means Joe Plebians like me can possibly enjoy the trickle down tech in 7 or 8 years. .RJ Wrote:New Ford GT350R > Ford GT > NSX if only because i might actually be able to afford a mustang and because racing stripes Re: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 01-12-2015 Probably overshadowed but this is amazing and I want it: http://jalopnik.com/2016-alfa-romeo-4c-spider-this-is-it-1678915423 ![]()

Not to mention, NO GT[40] should EVER be without a V8This car (along with the og GT40 & FGT) was never intended to be sold in large numbers. It's not a high volume product, it's a halo car meant to showcase the cutting edge capabilities and new tech Ford has to offer. That shit is expensive, sorry. Oh, and if I (Mr. V8) can get over the fact that it has two less cylinders than conventional wisdom says it should, surely you can too. I mean this sounds so feeble and anemic how will it ever get out of its own way? Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 01-12-2015 This GT looks pretty wild. It's also a big car and it looks like it has some interesting packaging challenges/solutions. If I had to guess, I would imagine this will be more expensive than the last GT. There's a lot of carbon fiber and daring curves. All in all its a really fucking cool car, but I have to wonder how close to production this concept is, and how heavy it will end up being with the size. I'm really curious about this too, especially since the last GT was a slow-ish seller at ~150-175k (after the dealer markup craze), and then almost immediately climbed to 200-250k, and now 500k+ for some examples. Youre wrong. The 2005 GT was hardly a technological tour de force. It was a throwback car, visceral, completely lacking in technology in fact (that was the point), and brilliantly done. The only tech related to that car was how fast and low budget they threw it together. Even the 'tech' of the original didnt extend past "put a big ass engine in a light car and make it less unreliable than the italian pieces of shit we race against" B. Since forever the Corvette has punched the entire auto industry's in the face and stolen its lunch money year in and year out. Dodge at least attempts to put up a fight. Ford pussies out. The GT is Fords chance to bring some pain and kick their ass with a car people can afford (someday), but instead they add yet another overpriced hypercar to the pile for the .05%ers to pick from. Re: Automotive News Discussion - HAULN-SS - 01-12-2015 I think you're right on point B. Ford seems to think that if they make some high dollar iteration of a mustang that can hang with or beat a corvette in some spec or another, everyone will want to buy it. They're wrong, because there's a bunch of people like myself that would never spend more than, say, 40k on any iteration of a Mustang. I did suggest that the new car is a showcase for Ford's most advanced tech/capabilities as it's "a halo car meant to showcase the cutting edge capabilities and new tech Ford has to offer."
