I'm not saying the x3 is a dumb idea, but it's a dumb idea.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

what's the mileage on it again?

Roughly 125k. It's in pretty good shape overall. No body rust and almost none under the car either. The car was from Raleigh it's entire life before I had it, so it probably almost never saw snow/salt.

The struts are old as hell on it and I would replace those if I was keeping it, but it drives fine and is mechanically fine otherwise. All stock except the muffler and it has a STi hood scoop, but I have both of the original pieces as well.

ScottyB Wrote:i've been trying to find a bmw 3 series wagon that doesn't have 100k+ miles, in a manual, that's less than 400 miles away, in my budget and its almost impossible.

I've been watching that E91 market for months, and you can find what you're looking for but you have to be very patient and ready to strike. For that money you're going to get a low/no option AWD/6MT wagon. The cars go for sale and turn over within 48 hours so while it looks like there arent any available, they just dont hang around.

I'm going to send you an email, there's one available that would suit you.

sounds perfect. i don't like loaded cars, luxury stuff is mostly wasted on me, just give me a decent stereo and A/C. i hate nav systems.

Ugh. I'm probably the millionth person in MM interested in this car.

Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 08-28-2017

the end. to paraphrase from a hastily written Facebook post:

bye old friend. 10 fun years.

some cars add up to more than a pile of parts, and this one did. it was quirky and had moods but i trusted it...didn't matter where or when. i drove it from the worst Atlanta traffic to the tightest mountain roads i could find in Appalachia, sometimes in the same day. i asked for everything it could give me on the track and it even clawed its way to a rallycross season win in 2013. it carried my newborn son and one time even carried 6 huge tree trunks. i even drove it through a Cat2 hurricane. i could go on....it taught me so much about cars.

take a well earned rest little subaru...may your parts help your brethren burble on down the road for years to come

if any of you need some fairly clean 2005 impreza parts, call the Copart in Savannah GA.

hope this was an entertaining thread and thanks everyone for the help with figuring stuff out when the odd problem arose.

rally on

Sad Can't wait to see what's next, but I get the sadness that comes with losing what you had.

I felt gutted when it finally hit me that the white 328iC was gone to a junkyard.

thanks man. its not so much that its gone, just how it went out. felt super lame and i wish i had the time/money/energy to repair the unibody but in the end its not worth it for a non-STi chassis.
