We could start with the Baja 500. Re: Automotive News Discussion - V1GiLaNtE - 01-08-2015 You know I'm in. I like your thinking Polen. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Sully - 01-08-2015 Wait, like some people have kinda mentioned in passing but the point doesn't seem to be getting made. Who cares about a giant air dam on the front of the trucks as far as off-roading go? Who the hell wants to take a brand new truck (like those which are glorified suvs with open cargo areas ) and take it off roading. Those trucks have leather seats and 5.1 surround sound or whatever the hell. People with enough money to carelessly off road one will spend tons of money on the aftermarket. Not too mention, any serious off roaders even in old trucks has to do aftermarket stuff to not break anything. Skids, removing plastic flaps, trimming, aftermarket bumpers, etc. I think you guys are hung up on something completely minute. As long as it clears a curb like a truck should, who cares. They are meant for towing the jetskis to the lake or picking up the new grill. Nobody is buying them to go straight extreme off-roading. And people will slap off road bumpers on them anyway so they be the baddest off road street queen (like my truck lol) But that picture joey posted, my god that thing needs a leveling kit bad Re: Automotive News Discussion - Sully - 01-08-2015 I feel like I'd want to be in an enclosed chassis for anything longer than the Baja 500 or anything as extreme as the Dakar Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 01-08-2015 Sully Wrote:I feel like I'd want to be in an enclosed chassis for anything longer than the Baja 500 or anything as extreme as the Dakar Dakar has a motorcycle class brah. Man up Re: Automotive News Discussion - Sully - 01-08-2015 JPolen01 Wrote:Oh I'm well aware. That's even more sketchy just because of the speeds and the course. They're hauling ass through washout and all kinds of shit. Doesn't take much for your front tire to dig or get squirrely and although I'm sure the bikes are balanced well and probably lighter than they look, they are bulky SOB's for dirtbikesSully Wrote:I feel like I'd want to be in an enclosed chassis for anything longer than the Baja 500 or anything as extreme as the Dakar Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 01-08-2015 JPolen01 Wrote:This post made my daySully Wrote:I feel like I'd want to be in an enclosed chassis for anything longer than the Baja 500 or anything as extreme as the Dakar Re: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 01-08-2015 V1GiLaNtE Wrote:NomadDamn thing looks like an RC car, I love it. I hope it can handle some sweet jumps made out of cardboard and tumbling down flights of stairs. Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 01-09-2015 V1GiLaNtE Wrote:Scotty, any idea how this would place in SCCA rallyX? stock RWD class? ![]() more like, automatically mod RWD for being the asshole to show up in a gymkhana baja buggy gokart, have fun trying to lose  i want one so bad. its not like you're even paying a real penalty for the offroad crap, you're still being 911's to 60mph and i'd be willing to bet it still pulls at least .80g on pavement with the off road tires just out of sheer light weight. i'd put some pavement biased tires on it for everyday use and drive it like a supermotard while getting 30mpg, then turn around and drive it like a rallycar on the weekends. come home, hose off, repeat. This guy has the right idea Re: Automotive News Discussion - Senor_Taylor - 01-09-2015 SlimKlim Wrote:Uhhh The air dam is not the reason people would be jumping ship. People are talking about jumping ship if Toyota doesn't make drivetrain improvements. No one wants to keep buying the same Tacoma over and over while the Colorado is improving every year and has a diesel option in the works. Before we get TOO far off track, let's remember that Toyota ALWAYS shows the Limited trim in press releases, which is usually very different than the TRD trim, including different grills, fenders, and hoods, 16 inch wheels, locking rear diffs, different axle housings, etc. So we'll see what's in store for the TRD. There's an option for that.. Even a gravel rally tire setup. Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 01-12-2015 just caught the last couple minutes of the Ford NAIAS 2016 reveal. GT350R - A/C delete, magneride, carbon fiber wheels, 500+ hp Ford GT - 600hp 3.5 ecoboost, looks batshit crazy Raptor - 500lbs lighter, 3.5 ecoboost with more power than the outgoing 6.2

Re: Automotive News Discussion - .RJ - 01-12-2015 Hold on - the new Ford GT has a fucking V6? Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 01-12-2015 yeah but turbos. 2 of them. wheeeeee Re: Automotive News Discussion - Kaan - 01-12-2015 should be a V8 with two turbos Re: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 01-12-2015 Ford to the world: ![]() Agreed that it should be a V8 (remember the XJ220 fiasco Ford!?), but if Jag can make a 6 sound as good as it does in the F Type... Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 01-12-2015 Beat me to it! A four door Ecoboost version of the Raptor in that desert tan color might be a legit contender for replacement of the R in the future. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Evan - 01-12-2015 fucking shit. Strictly from a car-lust perspective the GT ticks all the boxes, I certainly wouldnt kick it out of bed. BUT all they had to do was take the 2005 GT, update the interior, throw the GT500 engine in it, and charge Z06 type prices for it to knock it out of the park and have normal people actually be able to dream about affording one someday. All that carbon fiber tub and Daytona prototype engine stuff just sounds like it will jack up the price $$$$$$$$. Not to mention, NO GT[40] should EVER be without a V8 |
