So there is a thread on another forum I follow that was created by some stupendously wealthy guy from Thailand. If you ever wondered what would happen if a kid never actually grew up, but attained huge sums of money, this is your guy. Everything he does is so over the top but its just amazing to watch. Everything is so F&F with all the gauges and colors and it kind of makes you vomit, but the kid in me loves the excess. i'll tell you what, personal taste or not i have 100x the respect for any wealthy enthusiast that spends their money that way over the nuevo-rich that just try to out-buy their polo buddies with whatever is newest/shiniest/most exclusive. if you're willing to get creative and mod/restore stuff at that level you're automatically cool.

now that i've said that, is there any reason there's a giant ridiculous McDonald's arch integrated into the driveway? that's borderline "sponsored" donk status

Agreed, and regarding his taste, some people were blowing him up about it but honestly, it's just that part of the world IMO. He posted pics of car meets its like somebody spilled a bag of skittles, tons of bright colors and just over the top builds. I wouldn't do it but I love that he does it :lol:

That's awesome. Good for him for doing what he wants. I really don't think it's that out of taste. Yeah maybe the stereo systems and gauges, but not even that bad. The coolest part of the entire thing is his collection of model cars. I love when people build model shops and car parts and gas pumps and shit.

the fact that any man in his position can talk about it without blowing an artery is beyond me. the 944 driver basically attempted to kill him.

the nudge he gave the porsche before the last straight was a "hey dickhead, i'm here and i'm faster than you so cut that blocking shit out" nudge, not a hit that you lay on someone maliciously to start a war. i don't know how that driver could possibly interpret it otherwise unless they're psychotic.

Oh I agree. The 944 driver is not legally allowed to make a double block/weave like to block. He is a dickhead. Yeah the clio gave him a nudge to move. When the clio did try to make the pass he saw the 944 just coming over he could have stomped the brakes and avoided and let dickhead be dickhead instead of wrecking his shit... not saying the 944 is not wrong not saying the clio driver should have to brake and let 944 be dickhead. Just some observance from neutral party. All the 944 driver got was 6 points on his race license. Such a small punishment for intentional wreck he caused.

Biker lane splits or cuts off driver. Driver assaults him and gf. Biker shows great restraint and only moves him to ground and calms him down with a small choke grip. Driver taken to hospital with broken ankle and neck bruises. Driver lucky the biker was that calm and didn't beat him to pulp.

thought the exact same thing. what happens when you need to like...replace a wheel bearing? who makes the magical carbon compressed unicorn-jerky brake pads for that? whats a shock rebuild cost?

i got sad when i read that progress to get it on track was slow because they ran out of funds....they're in way over their heads. the only realistic way to own one of these as a track toy is if you're so rich that the only reason you don't have the funds to get it properly prepped up is if you're busy closing the deal on a tropical island you just bought or because your learjet needs an interior renovation.

i have a feeling that if they get it complete it'll be run a few times and then either sold off or put in the garage under some spotlights as a neat conversation piece.

I imagine most of the "consumables" are semi-custom anyway. I would suspect a competent machine shop (and this guy sounds like the kind of guy who could afford such a thing) would be able to backwards engineer most of the things on a race car for "track day weapon" purposes.
