I liked the Proff mix so much I bought his newest EP (that most of those tracks were on). I also messaged him some words of encouragement on Facebook and he messaged back thanking me! Pretty cool when these guys take time out of their crazy schedules to respond to you.

So Robert Miles passed away yesterday, only 47 years old. This guy was one of the icons of early dance music and influenced a LOT of DJs as evidenced by the social media response today. I would also say that he was one of the big reasons I fell so hard into EDM, Children and Fable were two of the earliest tracks I used to play on repeat. His Halloween show in Denver back when I was a freshman in college was the first rave I ever went to, and to this day still one of the most weird.

i heard them play Children in between segments on NPR today and thought it was oddly out of character for the news. just now realized it was a tribute.
he was a huge part of my introduction to trance. i remember back (really dating myself) when i would stay up until 2 or 3 AM with my headphones on listening to the radio in my room, waiting with my hand on the record button to try to catch that song on my tape deck so i could make my own mixes. man....
