I think I would much rather have the former for Christmas. But I guess at a certain level of wealth it doesn't really matter what the number is at the bottom of that screen if you are really into stuff like that.

Is it really such a crazy idea that different genders have naturally differing levels of interest in various activities? Is there handwringing over not as many men being into scrapbooking or ballroom dancing?
There is certainly no descrimination, there are huge efforts by men to make motorsports more friendly and approachable to women both at the organizational and personal level.

I wish I had more time to write a response, but here goes. I agree with Evan. Why does it matter? I think the motivation to writing this article was the fact that this lady happens to like cars, and notices the gender difference and thinks "Since I like cars, all girls should like cars!" when she's really just an outlier. Men and women like different things.(usually) and if you try to push some kind of gender equality issue on this, you're trying too hard. Where's the article about how Mary Kay parties are mostly women? HOW DARE MARY KAY KEEP MEN OUT!!!!

So Taylor, do you have study to show me that says if you put a young boy and young girl in the same room with a barbie doll and a car that the boy is going to walk towards the car and the girl is going to walk the barbie doll? This being their first exposure to toys?

This is not so deeprooted in equality. It's more about stop being so close minded and expose each other to new fucking things. You automatically assume only boys are going to be into cars so just exactly who the fuck do you think is going to dominate the car world if thats not for girls!? (usually)

I have a 2 and a half year old daughter. I filled the house with cars and trains. She still loves more than anything the only pink item in the entire house, a pincess sophia blanket.

That said, the answer to the question of "Where are the female car enthusiasts" is probably the same as "Where are the female computer scientists" and "Where are the female engineers" and "Where are the female Practical Shooting Competitors" and "Where are the Female Hunters" and "Where are the Stay At Home Dads"...

Male dominated fields tend to stay male dominated just do to societal structure. That doesn't automatically mean there is a barrier to entry. The real question is, "is there a compelling need to change." To which I say, :dunno:
