The amount of fearmongering over something so unimportant to the average person is insane. I have never heard about this until this thread and you guys are making it seem anyone could be taking a casual stroll down the street or swimming laps in a pool and all of the sudden their ring is going to be ripped off their finger. Get a grip.

Take your ring off if you are working with your hands. Other than that chill.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a finger!!!

Steve: Yeah it definitely looks like the band material is just barely too thick for the gap between the lug holes and the case. If the OEM spring bars fit you just need a spring bar tool like you said. Should make quick work of it

Coming from the group of people who also advocate playing a game, while drunk, that is made up entirely of tossing a hammer into the air to hit nails, this is especially rich.

First shots from the watchmaker, turned this around crazy quick for me!

It arrived!! Got the bracelet installed, and I am smitten. This will have no problem making it into the rotation! If I had any small quibble, the Yobokies seconds hand has a brushed finish (I couldn't tell from his pics) which isn't the end of the world. But I think the brushing was done pretty heavy-handedly; there are some deep gouges and scratches if you look really closely / through a loupe. Only someone as picky as me would notice, and I'm still cool with it Smile

Wow, that is some gruesome shit.  I need to stop looking at hideous stuff like that, youtube starts suggesting more horrible videos every time i watch shit like that.

Better send it back. That second-hand looks awful.

In all fairness, both watches look great. I am not a fan of the glow in the dark face though.

Thanks man!  Yeah most dive / sport watch dials now have some kind of lume on them. Seikos are well known for having some or the brightest OEM lume. It was originally designed for legibility when you are deep underwater diving but it's really handy more for stuff like when you're in a theater or on an airplane at night.

I'm with stupid, that Seiko looks fantastic.

Agree, I wouldn't typically be a fan of the two-tone but really like it. And my fading eyes appreciate the brightness of lume. I wish the tag had brighter lume.

Came out awesome! The black day/date wheels were a good call.

I forgot to post this here, did another Sea Urchin build for my co-worker:

-DLW Cermamic 12-hr Bezel
-DLW White Mil-Spec Hr & Minute
-DLW Orange Mil-Spec Second
-Dagaz Polished Chapter Ring (which we brushed down)
-Gray/Orange Nato Strap
-Double Domed Blue AR Coated Sapphire Crystal
-"Custom" case brushing
-Orange rotor lettering

Overall I'm happy with the results. I had a hell of a time removing the bezel from this one and ended up putting some scratches in the upper-right lug and completely trashing my new $20 case knife. He wanted to brush the whole case down anyway so it sort of worked out in the end, but I need to figure out a more reliable method to remove bezels without fucking anything up.

Seiko sells a specific style of tool for their snapback watch cases that sort of looks like a mini log-splitter. There is a small wedge you can drive in with a screw. I think something like that would let me get the bezel starting to lift up without incurring any damage on the case, then when I actually have a groove to work in I can get it off the rest of the way with a traditional case knife.

Thanks guys! Really happy with how it turned out, it will get plenty of wrist time. I sent a few shots to some of the vendors who supplied the parts and the pics are blowing up on Instagram / Facebook so that's kinda cool!

Joey that mod turned out incredible! You have totally taken a dive into the watchmaking world and I love to watch it unfold!

Dang looking pretty nice Joey!

Maybe I should start watch modding instead of car-modding or buying new bicycles

Now this is a pretty cool Kickstarter for the airplane enthusiast....watch with Swiss made parts with dials cut from actual titanium pieces of the SR-71 blackbird:

RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - WRXtranceformed - 02-09-2018

The birth year diver I found for wifey turned out awesome! It was running a little fast when it got here so the mainspring was replaced for about $45. I found an aftermarket jubilee bracelet on eBay that fits mostly good...the endlinks aren't an exact fit but I was able to bend them to be pretty close (I don't think this even came with a metal bracelet back 32 years ago). It's holding a solid power reserve and I'm in the process of testing how much time it's gaining/losing after the service.

I had to remove every single removable link from the bracelet to get it to fit her ha. The hands are original with a little patina, the case is original and I *think* the dial is although the watchmaker thought it's been refinished. Wifey loves it, the smaller size at 34mm is a great fit for her tiny wrist. Not bad for under $200 all in!

RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Apoc - 02-09-2018

I turned 40 and the wife game me a watch roll plus this Cowboys watch. I haven't heard of the watch maker and it's probably not going to win any awards, but it's a nice way to commemorate my birthday. Now I just need to stop wearing my fit bit everywhere and actually wear some watches. I'm just so addicted to texts on my wrists...
