Re: Automotive News Discussion - RawrImAMonster - 12-12-2014 I really hope we get the RS. I would've liked to get one of the STi hatchbacks, but I'm too scared of that motor's reliability issues to drop $20k+ on a car that uses it. If this delivers on the power claims and is actually AWD, it should make a suitable replacement provided its not too ugly. That and fords tend to depreciate quickly so it will be in the price range that I usually buy cars in a few years after its release. Assuming it's priced roughly similar to the Mustang GT. Assuming it's priced roughly similar to the Mustang GT. You might run into the same issue you see on Golf Rs, 3-4 year old Rs with 20-40k+ on them are still usually listed for just under $30k even though they were only like $36k new. The problem is that it's a boutique car, the people really nuts about them buy them new and hold onto them forever, the few that do make it to the used car market carry a premium because there just aren't that many out there. I don't see a $35-40k Ford hatchback selling in significant numbers off the lot, so they probably won't depreciate like other Fords. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Mike - 12-12-2014 This also didn't sell in significant numbers off the lot. ![]() Just saying. Assuming it's priced roughly similar to the Mustang GT.aaaaand this is why we dont get many enthusiast cars here. enthusiasts dont actually buy them. They want somebody else to buy them, and then buy them used later. Re: Automotive News Discussion - RawrImAMonster - 12-12-2014 I don't know we got most of the important ones other than the skylines. I'm just not interested in buying any car new. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 12-12-2014 Evan Wrote:This. "We love V8 high performance wagons! What? 50 thousand dollars? For what it's worth I definitely would be down for a Focus RS, but it came too late for my current buying cycle. Re: Automotive News Discussion - fiveoh2go - 12-13-2014 SlimKlim Wrote:I don't see a $35-40k Ford hatchback selling in significant numbers off the lot, so they probably won't depreciate like other Fords. This ^ Extreme high performance, limited run Ford models and halo cars of late have no problem holding their value. Especially cars that are the first in a line of something or they've made a huge leap forward in performance from the previous model year. Terminator Cobras and 5.8 GT500's have done well along with the FGT being the ultimate example of this. Bottom line, if you think it's a bad ass car...buy it. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 12-14-2014 I think the Focus RS will benefit from the pent up demand for an awd hot sport compact. The Evo and Sti have both been getting heavier without getting significant engine upgrades and now the Evo is dead so now is a great time for the RS. Only competition now is the Golf R. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 12-18-2014 Sooo I'll probably be going to Detroit for the NSX debut and it looks like Ford will be unveiling a new Ford GT. Also looks like we might see new CTS-V, Focus RS,and Raptor. Anyone know of anything else cool that is supposed to drop?
