Jalopnik was having a racetrack design contest, so I made this: A housing development for people who want to live at the track:

You would basically have to drive at track speed to get to and from your house, all day every day. No one without track experience would be allowed to drive there. Fatality rate would be pretty high, so maybe in a more polished version I'll put in a hospital. I kinda had to throw this together to get it out today.

that's sweet as hell. i work from home but would totally commute to my own house on that :lol: . can you imagine a "mom van soccer practice battle stage" with random boring ass commute cars driven hell-bent through the neighborhood by people that love track driving, on their way to work/coffee/whatever?
speaking of that, I have this semi-realistic driveway fantasy. Assuming my acquisition of a little money someday, I'd create a wildly inefficient driveway to my house, that had all kinds of different turns through the landscape with legit red/white curbing on the apexes. At least a 1/4 mile long, and at least one turn that mimics the Karusel.
no idea how a moving or delivery truck would someone get to my actual front door, but whatever, worth it.

Yeah I was actually thinking about the problem Apex City eould be for moving trucks, trailers, gas tanker trucks, etc. Maybe there could be set hours where slow traffic would be allowed to get on briefly so they could get to the interior.

A commuter gets his coffee on the drive to work. An enthusiast knows when they must rotate the cup in their cupholder so they don't spill out the sippy hole on their driiiive to work.
