Except when you take it off to change to a silicone one for the gym... Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Senor_Taylor - 01-17-2018 I think rings in general are silly and I hate wearing them. How do y'all bother with it clacking against everything you touch? Do people actually still wear wedding rings in 2018? That's such an archaic thing to me that your spouse would get mad that you aren't wearing it. How do y'all bother with it clacking against everything you touch? Can't tell if sarcasm. I don't even notice mine anymore. It doesn't "clack" into anything because I control my fingers and don't just slam them into things. I have seen people getting a tattoo of a wedding band which doesn't seem like a bad idea. I have never had issues scratching things / clacking against things, and am also in the don’t understand the need for multiple rings camp. Call me old fashioned. Jokes on you. How often do I go to the gym
RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Jake - 01-17-2018 I'm curious how they are "archaic" other than it's a long-standing tradition? My current and past managers at work are both married and neither wear wedding bands. I think it's really strange, honestly. That said, my plan for if-and-when I get married will be carbon fiber or thereabouts from Amazon. I've got carbon fiber insert and wood grain insert tungsten rings and they look really cool! RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Jake - 01-17-2018 ^^ That sounds neato. I like the one that Matt posted as well. Nice! Love the look. That Citizen chronograph in the background looks very much like the Eco-Drive titanium chronograph I had a while back and ended up giving to a friend Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Sully - 01-17-2018 On Jon's note, I've talked about the tattoo one but I think that would be like a 5 year anniversary or 10 year anniversary thing. I've also looked at the carbon 6 rings which I don't think would look like carbon fiber like you'd want but I think they're like a forged carbon and then they have glow resin in the inside which I don't think I'm crazy about. I'll probably just get that first one I posted, and see how it goes wearing one. I wouldn't say rings are archaic but I also don't think they are necessary but if a small gesture like a metal band makes her happier, I'll at least try it. Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Senor_Taylor - 01-17-2018 Man I wish quotes worked on tapatalk. Sully hit it with that last sentence. Wearing a ring to mark you're married seems like something you'd do in middle age Europe so someone didn't run off with your bride. Some people seem to really get bent out of shape if someone isn't wearing their ring as if wearing a ring makes someone more or less likely to cheat. If you don't mind doing it and it makes you happy, I certainly see how you'd want to wear one. It's like carrying a piece of them with you or something, I understand that. There's a lot of things about weddings and marriage that seem really old fashioned if you stop to think about it. Not trying to knock anybody for wanting to do it. Maybe I took the "Doing it to make the wife happy" statement too literally. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Apoc - 01-17-2018 The wife would likely prefer to never give another BJ but they make me happy, soooo... yeah, marriage is about compromise. RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - .RJ - 01-17-2018 I'm late to the party but I just wear my Qalo ring all the time unless we're dressing up. The "real" (lolz) wedding band is a Ti 3-piece rolling ring. I've gone through two in a year, the durability is my only complaint, but, I like keeping the skin on my fingers. RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Apoc - 01-17-2018 You guys appear to have an irrational fear of ring avulsion. Maybe I'm not averse to metal rings because I never do anything with my hands but type and jerk off? Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-17-2018 Look up welding and ring.... talk about degloving! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - .RJ - 01-17-2018 chris went to college so he doesnt have to lift weights or do yardwork RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Apoc - 01-17-2018 WRONG. I went to college so I don't have to deglove my ring finger. RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Steve85 - 01-17-2018 I either need the pin tool or some professional assistance getting the new band to fit. The thickness of the cordura makes it nearly impossible to get the pin inserted. I got one side but only after destroying the pin that came with the band and using with the original pin. Which stinks because the pin that comes with the band has what should be an easy to use slider that pokes through the band. I just can't seem to get enough pressure to compress the band material just enough to get the pin to align with the holes on the other side. ![]() And just to make sure I'm on topic - I wore my ring all the time when I was a mechanic and wear it in the garage most of the time now. We just recently caught a Shark Tank episode where the guys were selling safe rings made out of silicone. It was funny how over the top I felt they were with the danger of a metal ring for the average person. I do take it off to mix the meatloaf though. |
