Jake Wrote:Get used harnesses from Matt or otherwise, save that money vs. new so you can get cam-lock.

I'll let you know when I pull my Corbeau to see if you want it for the passenger side.
Definitely will try. Will be checking the expiration date though on the harnesses.

Alright, but I thought Matt was two seats? Idk. I'll see sometime when he let's me sit in them

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - D_Eclipse9916 - 10-16-2015

Buy used seats and harnesses that are out of date. Racers sell them at extreme discount because we cannot use them anymore.

If you can imagine, the "out of date" is for worst case scenario where someone leaves their racecar out in the sun all day everyday in the UV rays. Now look at my car, it sits in a garage ~330 days a year, is transported in an enclosed trailer and gets pulled out saturday morning, put back in sunday evening. They are still very good, but by the rules we have to buy new ones. Buying new ones for HPDE when you dont need them and having them out of date by the time you go racing seems like such a waste.

Contact Jimmy Bost, he has a couple harnesses for sale I believe right now that are cam-lock. When you climb into your car, have a helmet and hans on; you are going to be happy for a cam-lock vs latchnlink.

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Kaan - 10-16-2015

all you donkeys forget about the honda... i see how it is...

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 10-16-2015

Yeah, my plan was to just buy used seats if I could if not just buy a seat then add a brace to it later if it expires. Hoping to pick Matt's shit up harness and seat wise because it will just be easy being local.

Kaan Wrote:all you donkeys forget about the honda... i see how it is...

Poor Kaan, I don't think Jake or Matt's seats will fit you. You are a fluffy man that needs a little more love :dunno:. I don't know how else to word that. Sorry Kaan haha.

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Kaan - 10-16-2015

ha! i was more worried about the harnesses. I never find the seats i fit (and fit well at OG) used... i'll be asking one of those officials to make some purchases for me Wink

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - navin - 10-16-2015

Wasn't Matt's car he got in an a bit of a wreck at VIR..? I'm all for buying expired/used harness', and since I don't know how bad that wreck was I'd be a bit careful of buying those harnesses'.

http://english.schroth.com/racing/faq.php:

When should I replace my harness?
Harnesses should be replaced after any moderate or severe impact. The properties and strength of the webbing and components may be altered in the event of a crash. Webbing is manufactured with a pre-determined elongation (stretch) to bring the occupant to a controlled stop. The hardware components may be weakened or damaged. Therefore it is recommended to replace any harness which as been used in an accident. Any extreme fraying of the webbing or deterioration due to prolonged exposure to weather or chemicals (gas, oil, cleaners, brake fluids, etc) should be replaced.

And Kaan, don't worry bud I have my G-Force camlocks waiting for ya when you're ready.

Yeah 1st gen mz3 friend mentioned that to me when I said I was buying used harnesses out of a wrecked car. It didn't look that bad, side impact 40-50mph crash? I'm not sure how much damage they sustained or if I should go for them.

Also, brake pads conversation. So, if I'm making brake ducts might as well upgrade to a dedicated track set? Should do this anyways. Options are as follows:

Cheaper Option:
1. Front rotors: centric blanks (swap between two sets of centric blanks)
Rear rotors: centric blanks (keep these on all the time)
Front pads: HT-10 or DTC-60 or DTC-70 (swap from HPS or Stoptech street pads)
Rear pads: HP+ (keeps these on all the time)

More Expensive Option:
2. Front rotors: centric blanks (swap between two sets of centric blanks)
Rear rotors: centric blanks (swap between two sets of centric blanks)
Front pads: DTC-70 or DTC-60 (swap from HPS or Stoptech street pads)
Rear pads: HT-10 or DTC-60 (swap from HPS or Stoptech street pads)

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - *insertusernamehere* - 10-16-2015

You can come look at them yourself Ryan they look as good as they did prior to the crash. If you don't want the driver side no one was in the passenger seat so you could use those instead if it worries you. I really don't know any of the mechanics but i'll describe it so y'all can decide. It was just a side impact into the tire wall. Its pretty much all cosmetic. Even the door jams and mounts are still in place. The driver was fine too. He had minor neck pain and scratches from the glass. He proceeded to walk the paddock for like 3 hours and then drive himself and his wife home haha.

The only reason to have something like this, is if it was drunk stolen from a sorority chicks apartment that you banged last night.

I had watermelon instead and it's after taste was like nail polish. Moral of the story is I can't do Burnettes anymore without wanting to :vomit:

Beer, rum, whiskey, or bourbon for me.
