Funny coming from you

Re: Project: AWD TURBO Family Hauler (04 Forester 2.5XT) - SlimKlim - 09-17-2014

Yeah but I know exactly the moment that *I* fucked my headgasket seven ways to Sunday. I overheated it after replacing the radiator because I got distracted and didn't bleed it properly. The leak started immediately after that and I've hated myself for it ever since. So my car isn't actually guilty of anything, my dumbass is. Sad

funny things is... you owned a trouble free Honda and sold it! I think you really WANT to break stuff.

RIP Hatchpile

Wasn't your dsm in like mint condition? Aside from what...like a fuel pump which you replaced before selling it anyway. I mean i know a mint dsm is still about as reliable as a basket case honda that's been run with no oil for 500 miles but it was so pretty and i don't even like those cars.

Intercooler should arrive tomorrow.

Parts order from Subaru should be in tomorrow.

Picking up the STi bov tomorrow as well.

So I should have everything I need to get started and finish this weekend fingers crossed. I hope to take pictures of the process.

Woohoo, Congrats! Going to be fun.

Nice! Whereabouts will all these things put the Fozzy power-wise? I'd imagine it'd be a nice wide power band.

No idea where all this stuff is on a Subaru or how hard the job is, but I'd offer to come by and turn/pass wrenches/beer if I weren't in DC for a wedding. Good luck this weekend!

Re: Project: AWD TURBO Family Hauler (04 Forester 2.5XT) - JustinG - 09-19-2014

I have seen #s all over the place from 260whp up to 290whp

Looking at similar mods/mileage of other cars I am thinking a safe guess would be 275-280whp with the "Off the Shelf" Stage 3 tune.

Most of the guys with close to 300 have a Pro Access Port tune.

those are healthy numbers. with your 4.44 gearing that thing is going to move out.

w00t. That's going to be fun, especially come winter Smile . Is there an AWD dyno in Richmond?

Re: Project: AWD TURBO Family Hauler (04 Forester 2.5XT) - JustinG - 09-20-2014

Re: Project: AWD TURBO Family Hauler (04 Forester 2.5XT) - V1GiLaNtE - 09-20-2014

I'll be in town late tonight around 8. If you're wrenching tomorrow I'll stop by and bull shit.

Re: Project: AWD TURBO Family Hauler (04 Forester 2.5XT) - JustinG - 09-20-2014

Got pretty far today. Long story short, fuck subaru for their asinine intake design and I couldn't finish cause I only ordered 2 of the 4 needed crush washers for the turbo's coolant lines. So I'll have to run grab those when the dealership opens Monday since no one but them carries this size.

On to the pictures. ..

Before.

VF39 (bottom) vs td04
[Image: 0352d193cda3fdf677482ea78bc8ac1a.jpg]

td04 had some sort of liquid behind the turbine wheel on the hot side, so this is more than likely the issue.

Coolant lines requiring the crush washers
[Image: 46567eb84124c4d314e3ae1345e6b8d2.jpg]

STi tmic testfit, you have to bend the a/c lines on the firewall to make room and trim the splitter on the hood scoop to cover the larger area. Other than that, direct bolt on.

STi bov installed
[Image: 7ebd5ea09be616c919f27f7ef4921d3c.jpg]

STi bov piping is routed differently and required for the STi tmic. Gold top is the XT bov, on the 06+ foresters they used the same as the STi/WRX so they dont need to switch.

That's as far as I got.

Only need the crush washers, bolt up dp, and hook up the tmic. Then prime the turbo by pulling the ign fuse and cranking it for a few secs a couple of time. Then throw on the stage 3 tune.

Im too old for this shit, my back hurts.
