I guess you think higher of Carlos Rogers than I do. But you also leave out other spectacular 1st round picks like Rod Gardner, trading a 1st round for Laverneous Coles, Patrick Ramsey, Jason Campbell. agreed. i think three stellar years of play makes a pick well worth it. The audio is still there, including some pretty good lines and the "pounding" of Antonio Freeman's super bowl ring. Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-27-2009 how do you keep the same [basic] team, improve on it [personnel-wise] just a bit, but get far worse year over year? sorry zorny, i think it's time. Re: How bout them skins? - Ken - 09-27-2009 Haha i love the Redskins. Making the pain of Mcnabb going down not hurt nearly as bad. Now if only the Giants could show such ineptness we'd be golden. My thoughts exactly, to me today's performance was just uninspired. I don't know if what the issue is but it seems like we've just been getting consistently worse since Zorn arrived. Maybe he just doesn't change and adapt, I dunno...but I think you're right, time to move on. Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-28-2009 he doesn't get angry. he tries too hard to be joe cool. we need discipline... we need marty schottenheimer (sp?) back. Re: How bout them skins? - Steve85 - 09-28-2009 The few things they showed about the new Lions coach, how he shook things up, made it his team, took control is such a contrast to Zorn taking over. And it looked to me liked the two teams are headed in opposite directions. Riggins was good on WTOP this morning, just killing Snyder about having Tom Cruise on the field talking to Zorn before the game what that symbolizes about his handling of the team. By the end of the game I had more respect for Lions owners, players, and coach than I did the Skins. Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-28-2009 yep, lions coach impresses me thus far. Re: How bout them skins? - WRXtranceformed - 09-28-2009 The Lions have some great offensive weapons, it's only a matter of time before they finally come back together. God bless Lions fans for hanging with them for that long. Re: How bout them skins? - stevegula - 09-28-2009 -------------- How I figure the end of the game went ------------ "Coach... we've gotta get 6 points.. we're 40 yards out.. and there's 8 seconds left.. what do you want to do?" "Trick play.. Throw it 20 yards, pitch it back to REL, have him pitch it to Betts because he's got such break-away speed and boom. 6 points." "You don't want to just do a hail mary sir? Kelly has height on everyone." "Don't you see! THAT'S WHAT XENU WOULD WANT US TO DO! They'll never see this coming!" "Ok coach..." Reporter - "Coach, what do you have to say for yourself after trying to pull a college level trick play as a desperate attempt to beat a team that was rewriting the book on how to lose?" "There was nothing wrong with my play call. It was the execution. The players need to learn to execute." ------------------------------------------------------------- It's time to go, Zorn. I think it really is your play calling. You managed only 9 points against St Louis, and only 14 against Detroit. Fire Vinny, fire Zorn, trade Campbell (if we can). Those stats might look great, but he didn't play a great game. There /should/ have been at least two more picks in that game against Campbell, he's just lucky defensive players have no hands. Campbell still lacks a soft touch preventing him from doing any sort of decent endzone corner fade. He's hit or miss at leading a receiver down the sideline. He throws the ball at roughly the same height/speed regardless of what receiver he's throwing it to, so he doesn't take advantage of the difference options Moss or Kelly gives him. He doesn't make mistakes because he checks down so quick, which tends to cause him to not have high yardage games, or when he does he gets them because of the receiver (yards after catch). Campbell so far as a starting QB averages less than 1 TD per game and 172 yards per game. He's (more or less) on pace to have a "break out" year if he can get more TDs... maybe that's in the future.. and maybe Zorn will become a decent coach.. maybe I'll be a Chinese jet pilot.. (for those that watched the Dallas/Tamp game in week 1.. Romo had a shit ass day. For 3 quarters he threw the ball behind his receivers, f'd up a TD fade to Martellius Bennett, and in general sucked. Fortunately, the TB defense fell apart in the 4th quarter and Romo's stats skyrocketed). Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-28-2009 your mother. don't get me wrong, i'm still not a fan of him, but at the same time he's not the one making us atrocious. Re: How bout them skins? - stevegula - 09-29-2009 Uh, he is the guy that threw the ball one mile over Moss's head when he was wiiiide open in the flats @ the Lions. And he is the guy that didn't even toss it to a wide open Moss in the endzone when we hosted the Rams, instead he checked down about 1 second into the play and chucked a 10 yarder to Cooley. Even Zorn lays a handful of blame on Campbell because he doesn't do a lot of the things he's supposed to be doing. So as far as I'm concerned, fire Zorn for sticking with Campbell, and release Campbell for not being good enough. The last thing we need is a Joey Harrington, someone who's /just/ good enough to play but not good enough to win. Re: How bout them skins? - Mike - 09-29-2009 campbell is quite a bit better than joey harrington, thank you very much. Re: How bout them skins? - stevegula - 09-29-2009 frankly I think that's almost debatable. and that Campbell wouldn't have as many wins under his belt if it weren't for 3 years of a top ranked defense that protected what few points he's been able to put up. |
