RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Apoc - 01-16-2018 It's weird to me that you guys swap out rings and don't just wear the one from the actual ceremony. If I'm worried about losing it, I just don't wear it. Are you afraid a chick is gonna trip and fall on your dick if you aren't wearing something? Some of us just aren't willing to take that risk. RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Apoc - 01-16-2018 Something tells me that you, like me, having bigger deterrents than a little band on your finger. Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Sully - 01-16-2018 I'll probably not wear one most of the time but I have to pretend that I will for now at least Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - JPolen01 - 01-16-2018 (01-16-2018, 12:53 PM)Apoc Wrote: It's weird to me that you guys swap out rings and don't just wear the one from the actual ceremony. Came here to say this. When I go to the gym I don't wear my band. I have yet to pick up any chicks. I was hoping an f31 would fix it. I've been blaming the Prius. RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - WRXtranceformed - 01-16-2018 I lost my original tungsten Amazon ring on our honeymoon somewhere in the ocean in St. John and wifey don't care as long as I have a ring on, so I have usually just cycled through a few to coordinate because they were so cheap (fashion y0). I'm not saying I get hit on a lot when I forget to wear my ring but it has happened. Around here you don't hunt cougars, cougars hunt you. Ring is usually a pretty good coug repellant. RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Apoc - 01-16-2018 "I appreciate your interest, but I'm married" also works. The wife and I forget to wear our rings days on end. I guess it's just not that important to us. Sounds like more work than just wearing it, taking it on and off... RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Apoc - 01-16-2018 You're right... speaking seven words does sound like more work than buying a secondary ring in a material you "hate with a passion" and swapping out depending on activities. Of course now we also have internet so maybe it's always happened "Finger rings have been found in tombs in Ur dating back to circa 2500BC." However, this wouldn't have been the "working class" that had them, they'd been too busy trying not to die of shitting themselves to death. but still, I think the "risk" is like, waaaaaaaaaaaaay overblown. Don't wear jewelry working on your car, or your lathe or whatever. That'll probably solved 99.9% of the risk of injury from a ring. RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - JPolen01 - 01-16-2018 If you work with your hands for a living wear the ring on a necklace. That is what my tradesmen friends do. RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Ken - 01-16-2018 I don't get the whole second ring thing either. Lee - i had the same thing happen on my honeymoon. We were snorkeling and I was treading water and felt it slide off. Thankfully the waters there were crystal clear and i watched it gracefully sink to the bottom of the 15FT we were in. Weighed the pros/cons in like two seconds of asking the guide to get it or nearby scuba divers (didn't know if there were any dangers of diving down that quickly or whatever) and decided to just dive down and grab it. Guide said he has seen countless people lose their rings but never has had anyone recover it. Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Sully - 01-16-2018 Jon, I try to tell my fiance to do that with her engagement ring so it doesn't get lost up a paitents ass (she's a nurse) but she refuses. I still don't see how it doesn't tear through her gloves. My gloves tear from just looking at them wrong with no jewelry on (but they're harbor freight and not $3k a box medical gloves) Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - JPolen01 - 01-16-2018 (01-16-2018, 03:42 PM)Sully Wrote: I still don't see how it doesn't tear through her gloves. I'm honestly surprised by this. I thought that was a thing all nurses did because the diamond rips the glove every time. Maybe you need to buy her a bigger rock
Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Sully - 01-16-2018 I think she says most don't but I don't remember. I'd be more comfortable if she didn't wear it but it's insured so whatever. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - G.Irish - 01-16-2018 I don't get the second ring thing. If a woman were to hit on me now I'd be like thanks, no thanks, and that's it. 99.9999% of (sober) women are not gonna be pushy if a man says no. And really, when I was single women rarely, rarely hit on me out of the blue unless I was at a bar or club. Now, if you're out without your ring maybe people who know your wife might snitch or gossip or something. But someone that nosy is not worth worrying about anyway. RE: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - WRXtranceformed - 01-16-2018 Where did the second ring thing come from? I had multiple rings just to coordinate with when I was suited up / casual etc. because they were super cheap and they looked cool. I migrated almost entirely to QALO because it's more comfortable and safer, the other two I have just sit in a box. I do actually have I think one other one I bought years ago but I lost so much weight that it's too big for me. I meant taking on and off your rings and "forgetting". I wear mine permanently, so I dont think about it AKA no effort. *shrug* I like wearing my ring, but I like wearing a watch 24/7 too which seems odd in this group. What you wearing these days? Update: Project "Two Tone" is in the mail! Hopefully will have some update shots from NEWW in a few weeks. My vintage "turtle" is still in the black hole at International Watch Works. I think I'll be lucky if I see that by the end of Q1 |
