Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 01-21-2013 I got one this morning. It took 5 tries to get the code to work, but finally did. It seems pretty cool, although I didn't leave the house today so I didn't really get to do anything. Tomorrow should be fun. The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - JPolen01 - 01-21-2013 What is that? Same, I got it last night, did a few of the training missions while I took the dog for a shit. Will concentrate on it this afternoon, but it looks sweet as hell. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Jake - 01-25-2013 OK, I'm changing jobs within AOL and can get a new company phone and (finally!) move away from my POS BlackBerry Bold. Options are the iPhone 5, Galaxy SIII, and Droid 4. All on Verizon. The Droid doesn't hold my interest, but I know the SIII is supposedly the prom-king of Android phones right now. And I have an iPhone 5 as my personal device. Would it be worth getting the SIII, so I can have an Android device for comparison to iOS? I'll be doing a lot with a whole-site redesign and refresh, and while I'm not actually doing the development work, I could see how "seeing the Android experience" would be helpful in certain instances. How does Android handle enterprise-level email? I love iOS's Mail app. I hate BlackBerry's mail handling by comparison. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 01-25-2013 I love my Work and my Personal S3. Its by far the best android device I have ever owned and played with. The HW is advanced enough to where I dont see having any issues holding on to this for the remainder of my 2yr contracts. Cap One uses "Good for Enterprise" on our Iphones/Android devices, so I am not 100% sure how the phone handles work email without the app. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 01-25-2013 android allows as much (remote wipe, integrated calendars/reminders, encryption, full exchange etc) or as little (simple email checking) enterprise integration as you want it to. the email app is very good but its probably 'different' than ios' fair warning though: its going to be HARD to go back to your itty bitty iphone screen after using a 4.8" HD screen............ The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - JPolen01 - 01-25-2013 GSIII is definitely the best choice out of the bunch since you have the Jesus phone already. If I was getting another phone right now, it would be that without thinking twice. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 01-25-2013 Android is pretty good with MS Exchange. Sometimes it's annoying and glitchy with refreshing / sending etc. but honestly I am on the SII and probably a lot of that is my terrible carrier (Sprint) Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 01-25-2013 I can't imagine having two phones, but I'm also one of those people who like their private life and professional life very separate. With that in mind, I recommend Touchdown on an SIII (or wait for SIV) because you can have a separate inbox/calendar/etc. I'm only on an SII and I still feel bad when I see people using the small iphone screen. I'm so sorry to hear. I work with Good from a development standpoint. They are absolutely terrible. Take a look at their reviews on the iOS and Play stores. It's hilarious. (most of their 4300 on the iTunes store read like this: http://www.ideatoappster.com/app-review ... body-else/) Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - HAULN-SS - 01-25-2013 Lol..i was just about to suggest waiting for a good win phone on Verizon. I heard yesterday Nokia is going to be releasing two top tier phones on vzw soon. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Jake - 01-25-2013 Thanks for the input, erryone. I have another 3-4 weeks until I get converted over. The SIII and iPhone 5 are new to the site that shows my options (was previously another Android POS and a 4S). Apoc - I refuse to keep my work stuff on my personal devices. You want me to have access to your stuff past 9-5 weekday hours? You give me something to access it with. Evan - The iPhone 5 is plenty big as it is. The size of the SIII is really my only concern. It's huuuuge. It's huuuuge. It so freaking thin though. I am a fanboi no doubt about it but the phone is just great. I honestly think the size of the s3 is optimal phone size. Anything larger screen wise or thicker would be cumbersome. Eh, I tend to agree... which is why I keep everything in a self-contained app and prevent it from syncing with anything else on my phone. If I don't open that app, I have no connection to work. Then again, I get $50 toward my cell phone bill every month so it's easy to justify. If I wasn't getting $$ for using my device, I probably wouldn't do it. I just don't want to take my personal, un-subsidized phone, and have everything work-related (including their security requirements) on that device. The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - JPolen01 - 01-26-2013 Picked up the Lifeproof iPhone 5 case today. Currently testing it for leaks. Will report back with review in a few days. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 01-26-2013 Jake Wrote:Evan - The iPhone 5 is plenty big as it is. But then I thought "ewww...look at those 4.8" bricks, could never fit one in my pocket!" but I got one a couple months ago. perfect pocket fit and I could never go back to even a 4.3" screen. |
