Haha damn! I mean yea I understand a bullet will go through studs, drywall and floor decking, but I have concrete separation walls on the entry level and thick layers of firewall on the floors above in between units (engineered steel, sound proofed drywall and insulation). Ideally I'd like something that's not going to shoot through those.

Cliff's notes:5.56 JHP disintegrates after first interior wall, where as 9mm safety slug goes through 5 walls and into the woods. Shotgun was just as bad.
Hence, my carbine recommendation. Excellent control, accurate, low recoil, easy for anyone to use, less worry about "overpenetration" lots of aftermarket to tailor rifle to situation.
ETA: Anything that will sufficiently penetrate a badguy will make short work of fuckin' drywall.

Looks like the DB9 is the smallest and lightest now. Wonder what you can get one of those for? Probably assrape. I like the little Sig 1911 380 so the 9mm version there gives me a bit of a stiff but looks less true to JMB's work of art then the 380. I dunno. I hope the PF-9 shoots well. Look like we are going to top gun in h-burg on Monday.

Well I got the Kel Tec to the range. It performed well. I was only able to put ~60 rounds though it though. One major reason I got this gun was I was hoping Anne could carry it once she got her permit. She liked how it fit in her hand and how it pointed but once she shot it she was not comfortable with the recoil. It is a little harsh but I prefer it to the recoil of the Bersa 380. I would say that the Bersa has more "snap" and the Kel Tec has more "flip" I mainly practiced putting two rounds in the chest at 10 yards. I could also do it very easily from a draw (or pick up) at 15. I was even able ot hit the target in center mass (up and to targets right) at the full range length of 25 yards....just for fun. So I would say for such a short 9mm it is very accurate and easy to use and shoot. As for reliability, I had one malf in ~60 rounds of cheap ball 9mm. It was with American Cartridge FMJ. WWB fed perfectly but I only got in a mag or two of that. The failure was a common one listed on the Kel Tec Owners Group (KTOG) site. The extractor did not get the spent case clear and it jammed up. It was a good jam to. Took me a second to clear it, I had to drop the mag and tilt the gun and let the case fall out. Dropping the slide would not get the extractor around the case rim. I will play with this with snap caps later.

What's a good gun store in Richmond? I'm going to be there all next week and I'm looking to pick up either the Ruger I mentioned earlier or the Kel-Tec like Jeff bought. None of the stores around here (all 3 of them) carry it. Any idears from the locals on where to go? I'll be staying just off 288 about 15 miles south of short pump.

had a great afternoon shooting with my wife, BIL and FIL on saturday. i've only shot about 2 times briefly before this, so i'm still pretty new but Jen has some experience. we both had such a good time we're saving up for a firearm as well as classes now. so much to learn.
we shot with my FIL's winchester model 62 .22 rifle. it looks to be about 1934 or 35 vintage and is beautiful. pump action too which is pretty cool. also used a little .22 revolver which was fun, it was given to my FIL when he graduated high school as a present! it's probably the better part of 50 years old but looks new.
i'm really hoping next time we go up we can shoot his S&W 25-2 .45 revolver. he got it in Germany for $40 when he was in the service during 'nam from a Huey gunner :lol: it's in beautiful shape, never fired since he bought it and could probably use a once-over by a gunsmith.

Here's a question gun guys...
I have a barely shot Sig 226 .40 I picked up from a co worker a while ago and am thinking of trying to trade up for a Glock 19 Gen 3.
Why you ask?
1. For me being on a tight ammo budget I have to consider two things I am looking for either firepower or capacity. I have my .45 1911 which I love to death and will never part with and there's just something about the .40 that doesn't quite do it for me. 9mm is cheaper/ more readily available than .40
2. Buying extra mags for the Sig is $$$.. I mean jesus.. A quick check on Midway USA has 12rd for $40. I can buy a glock 33 rd for that much..
3. Building a system AKA "interchangeability"..... Glock mags, most parts, holsters, all work cross model.
Nothing wrong with the ergos of the Sig. Shoots straight as hell and have been pleased with it. Just trying to maximize my shooting dollar.
Thoughts?

No, not a straight up trade.. I guess to be specific I'm going to try and work something with Dennis at Ashby Arms... My sig also has the .357sig barrel(<100rds), extra mag, and hogue wrap arounds.. Looking to go for new G19

So after doing some research and rootin around online I decided to buy a Kel-Tec like Jeffs. Sold my old Ruger P89DC while I was in Richmond and picked up a Kel-Tec PF9 in all black at Greentop. And, get ready for this, I paid more than Jeff! Not by a whole lot. Retail was $299 but they gave me a law enforcement discount which helped out a bit. I like it thus far although I haven't carried it yet. I did choose to install the pinkie extension on the magazine. I wanted a cheaper gun that I didn't mind getting scuffed up from carry. Plus I sold my Ruger for enough that it really didn't cost me much out of pocket.
