Good on ya for doing it yourself!

JPolen01 Wrote:To remedy the clearance issue in the front I used a hole saw to drill holes in each shock tower to create more room for my camber kit to travel. Pictures will come soon of this so you guys can laugh your asses off. I know I did while doing it. Lowered the front another 1/4 inch but still have to much wheel gap for my liking so hopefully another day this week or next I will lower it some more. The rear will also go down another 1/4 inch probably.

In for pix... how low is this versus stock? Any idea how the shock towers will hold up with the new (or extended?) holes? I would have to think people do this somewhat frequently.

JPolen01 Wrote:maybe delve into a wire tuck if I can find someone who wants to teach me.

Talk to Jon Combs... he did one on his 240 I think.

Re: Project: Haters Gon Hate - JPolen01 - 12-28-2011

The camber kit I got turned out to be shit. The stock ball joint is flat on top while this one has a bolt that sticks up through the nut. Loosen the nut and you can slide the bolt back and forth to adjust camber. Crappy design is crappy. If the weather holds out today I will try and get some pictures with my phone. I drilled the holes with Adam Zisa and he also asked about the strength of the shock towers. I don't think it wil really affect it. I have seen one integra completely cut out the tower (looked like shit).

Re: Project: Haters Gon Hate - Mike - 12-28-2011

i had a skunk2 camber kit (justin has it now) with a similar design. stock shit had more clearance.

Good to know. I was looking into that one because the boots are failing on mine.

Is your garage heated? Doubt it, but thought I would ask. I need to paint my lip....

Back from the dead. Little teaser photo until I have time to post up the rest and do a little write up. Different set of wheels since original plans. 17x8.25 +25 XXR 527s. I got them because they were cheap, not sure how much I like them anymore but fuck it. I don't want to put any more money into this thing.
Front. Will probably go lower next week before the show. [Image: 527302_10150797489424289_668254288_11556...5701_n.jpg]

I actually don't hate this. Those wheels look good from the pix you posted.

Re: Project: Haters Gon Hate - JPolen01 - 04-05-2012

Alright, so where do I begin? The original wheels I had were 17x8.5 +20. When I test fit them, I realized I needed extended studs to run them safely. They also poked more than I liked at the time. I ended up selling them and only losing about $200 so it wasn't that bad. Chalk that one up to the learning curve. Decided I didn't want to drop another $1k so I decided to go with the XXR 527s in 18x8.25 +20 to have less poke and more flush. Now I wish I had the old wheels again Sad Lincoln and I did the extended studs over 2 days learning as we went. I had the fenders rolled previously so once the studs were installed the wheels went right on. Well my ball joints went out (possibly because they were ebay, but that's besides the point).

Finally got around last weekend to replacing them with Eibach ball joints. I had been waiting to lower it more until I did the ball joints so I also tackled that. Lowered the front another 1/2 inch. I'm not really sure how much of a drop I currently have, but I can stick my phone between the fender and tire and it stays so it's fairly low :dunno: I finally got around to adjusting the rear for moar low today. Lowered it a total of another 3/4 inches on top of whatever I did last summer. Again, I don't really know the full drop. The rear is tucking tire and I absolutely love it. Come next week, I think I am going to lower the front another 1/4 inch for the show

I'd like to finish up correcting some of the panels that really need help, but for now it is just going to get a good wash and a proper shoot. Maybe someone can shoot some pictures at the show or sometime after? I'll also have a friend from home shoot a few pictures tomorrow hopefully. Garrett took a few pictures today in the pheasant run parking lot so I'll go ahead and post them. Sorry for the lack of editing and side shots.

Are you trying to post those pics using the Gmail URL? I can't see them.

Download the photos and upload them to http://www.imgur.com definitely the fastest/easiest image host.

Try imgur just once, it'll blow your face off. All you do is drag and drop the pictures you want, click upload, and you're done. Photobucket sucks the big one.

Pictures are fixed

Re: Project: Haters Gon Hate - Mike - 04-07-2012

I wouldn't do it, but doesn't look bad at all.

How does it looks without the centercaps? I had similar wheels at one point and they looked much better without them.

Haven't tried it without the caps. I might try it out but my axel nuts aren't the best looking. Might give it a shot next week though if I lower the front moar.

The ride is great now that I replaced the ball joints. Drove from jmu to Maryland this past week and couldn't have been happier. Function and Form is a great company and I would recommend their coilovers to anyone. They make 3 levels and I have the second one, type 2s, with adjustable height and dampening. I don't know what the spring rates are because they are straight out of the box nothing custom. The car rides like butter now. On my entire trip I only hit one bump around Tysons go figure that made the car bounce.

Thanks for the compliments on the fenders. I thought about doing them myself but decided against it for the obvious reasons. IAG in Maryland did the job perfectly. No cracked paint or bacon fenders here.
