Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - Machungwa63 - 02-05-2011 Considering running up on the Saturday to do the hyperdrive. I'm going to put the decision off until the last minute though cos I'm worried about the back tires and also worried about the fact that other cars have enough trouble navigating track obstacles as it is, and they might not want to add a Stratus into that list of things to watch out for. Also, just a random thing here but I figure I'd add it - camera mounts: allowed at VIR or autocrosses? I'm assuming if I can screw the camera onto the plate it would be okay - I'm just not sure if a suction mount onto a windshield would be considered a "secure object." Do I need to be looking at something much pricier? Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - JustinG - 02-05-2011 Alot of guys use Go Pros suction cupped to their windows/windshield. I can take a look at the track along with everyone else. But put it this way, it falls off its just debris on the track, you can try and find it at the end of the day, if your lucky it will still be intact. Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - Machungwa63 - 02-05-2011 K, I'll look into that. Problem I have right now is I've got it mounted on the passanger side of the dashboard. Right now, if you brake hard it will probably slide out and be a loose article inside the car during an autocross. Hopefully screwing it on will solve that problem, and I can always attach it to the back window instead. Think I'll skip on the Go Pros actually - it looks like you have to buy a camera too that is compatible with it. Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - JustinG - 02-06-2011 Oh yea the go pro is a full setup, great camera though if you in the market for a new one Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - Maengelito - 02-06-2011 Jake Wrote:Maeng - We'll take the half of your room. done! I wish I could say the same about my car

Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - Machungwa63 - 02-07-2011 Hey, thanks! That looks neat. Dunno what I'll do with the one I've got now though. I've got two cameras so I'll bring them both up and I'll see which fits best. Well...looks like the Stratus is going on a racetrack. Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - Machungwa63 - 02-08-2011 My dad's been a mechanic for a long, long time and he seems pretty insistant about doing the brake fluid himself. Thanks for the offer Jake but parents are parents I guess. Have a great BBQ! Sorry I can't make it. Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - Machungwa63 - 02-08-2011 Speaking of my dad, there will be a father/son combo at the next hyperdrive. He will be in his dark green, 1999 Mazda Miata (yes, it has a roll bar) - it will be the #86. Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - DavidL - 02-09-2011 Registered for Hyperdrive! hah we will see how this goes... Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-09-2011 You might fall in love...with the track. Are you coming down Friday night or Saturday morning? If I were you I would chip in with current students friday night at the hotel and get a good night's rest. Its much better to be on track with a fresh mind than after waking up early to go down to VIR and driving 3 hours. Then having to unpack, go to a classroom, and jump on track. I can try to reserve some space in the paddock as ill be there thursday night. Sounds like we have at least 4 MM cars on track at VIR. Weather update : Thursday and Friday next week are looking like mid to high 50s in danville, heres to hoping itll creep up to low 60s! And DJ, we do not talk about weather until at least Thursday before a track event, especially this one. So shuddup, cause now it'll be like 25 degrees. Re: NASA-MA VIR Full Course - February 18 - 20, 2011 - Jake - 02-10-2011 I'm Hyperdrivin', bitchezz. He'll probably be ridiculously slow. They always are. Just wait until you are trying to go around him in your Stratus and he wont' point you by. The only person who comes out and drives his Ferrari like a man is Skip Bennett. |
