- mpg9999 - 09-01-2004 Last year at radford the dedmon center parking lot (the one where the autocrosses are held) flooded. I think about 50 cars where lost, including my roomates. When I went to my car to leave for jiu jitsu the water was only a few feet from my car. When I came back the whole lot was flooded and there where students freaking out. They had tow trucks trying to save some of them, but that was pretty useless. This pic is from two years ago when it flooded - LorenaBeana - 09-01-2004 Way to go Feersty! I'm with you! - Feersty - 09-01-2004 damnit458 Wrote:navin Wrote:lol.. Bishop Ireton here. - damnit458 - 09-01-2004 wow this is just like a WCAC reunion. Anybody wanna jump in from St. Johns, Dematha, or, god help you, gonzaga? - Mike - 09-01-2004 Feersty Wrote:He is our creator, and our purpose is to worship and honor Him, while keeping in mind his unconditional love for us. Again, how do you know this? Any facts? Or just basing it on what you've been fed your entire life? Again, not trying to bash you, just trying to understand... I've tried long and hard, and was a firm believer at one point in my life... Until I stepped back and realized I really had nothing to base those beliefs on except for the grilling of CCD/chruch and a book that has been translated infinite times, and originally was really only what people said he said... - Mike - 09-01-2004 navin Wrote:lol.. thought you went to the oaktown? - Evan - 09-01-2004 Its called faith Mike, and its pretty much the whole point. I dont understand how at one point you were a firm believer if you dont understand the concept of faith. - Dragon - 09-01-2004 Evan Wrote:Its called faith MikeVery well put. While I myself am not a believer, and agree with Ryan that a lot of people just use religion as a crutch, I don't think any less of those who are religious. There are true believers out there, who don't just use it as a crutch and I have a profound respect for them. It takes a very dedicated person to have blind faith in something that they can't be shown, however I just find it all hard to swallow. Religion has some good ideas, and the basics in most religions are quite similar. They provide a good moral code for us to live by, but that's all it is to me, a good basic set of rules. I think most of us can agree that the 10 commandments of christianity as well as the golden rule are all things that a good upstanding human (notice I don't say christian) should live by, so religion has given us some good things. Most of the modern nations were at one time run by the church and that can be seen by some of the original laws created as a foundation for that nation. So basically, while I find the whole "God, Heaven, and Hell" thing hard to swallow, and don't believe, I still try to live as much of a morally upstanding life as possible based on rules that were actually passed forth from Religion. - .RJ - 09-01-2004 Dragon Wrote:I still try to live as much of a morally upstanding life as possible Ha!
- Dragon - 09-01-2004 .RJ Wrote:Yeah fuck you buddy. oh wait that's not morally upstanding now is it. I mean shoosh your mouth you.Dragon Wrote:I still try to live as much of a morally upstanding life as possible - Mike - 09-01-2004 Evan Wrote:I dont understand how at one point you were a firm believer if you dont understand the concept of faith. Not much to understand really, I took a step back and realized how silly the church was. I have beliefs, but they simply aren't as strong as they once were. |
