Re: Project XJ - HAULN-SS - 09-17-2009 FYI I have a 7-pin on mine. You can buy an adapter that has the flat 4 pin and the smaller round pin ones for like 20$. I just keep it in the jeep so I can tow whatever it is that comes along Re: Project XJ - Jeff - 09-17-2009 This XJ did not have a factory tow package. I'm adding this OEM mopar hitch to it. The OEM wiring kit is like $130...there is no aftermarket 7pin kit for it. So I'm just going with the 4pin you can get for $40. Re: Project XJ - Jeff - 09-17-2009 ALMOST DONE! ![]() ![]() Phil did a great job welding and finishing it off... ![]() ![]() ![]() Just a few more coats of paint. I might try to put this SOB on tonight! Re: Project XJ - CaptainHenreh - 09-18-2009 That looks great! I think that the hooks on the hitch was the right decision. Re: Project XJ - Jeff - 09-18-2009 CaptainHenreh Wrote:That looks great! I think that the hooks on the hitch was the right decision. I think so to. It was the most recovery points for my money. That and I have never seen it done before? :dunno: It seemed so simple, I'm surprised I don't see it on many Jeeps. Re: Project XJ - Maengelito - 09-18-2009 This project contains the most amount of win than any other one you've done Jeff. I'd totally love to rock a Jeep or some sort of off-roader and this one looks like its coming together quite nicely. Good work! Re: Project XJ - Mike - 09-18-2009 agreed, this project does not suck. yay jeff! Re: Project XJ - ScottyB - 09-18-2009 looks beefy! Re: Project XJ - Jeff - 09-18-2009 Done and DONE! To bad I have to take it off when I do the gas tank skid...ehh...minor annoyance. ![]()
Re: Project XJ - CaptainHenreh - 09-18-2009 Looks great! Re: Project XJ - Jeff - 09-20-2009 Went up to my Grandfather's cabin yesterday. This thing kicks ass. We had a hitch caddy on the back loaded down with shit, it was actually lifting the front tires and reducing the contact patch. I locked her in 4-low and it crawled itself up. Now this road is barely a 'trail' most logging roads are worse. Heck I've been up to the cabin in a minivan...but I did bust the tranny pan. Anyway, it was fun and the Jeep was actually used for work! We had to clear the road of brush and whatnot. Once I get my other skids on I will take it out on a real trail and get a stock baseline. Re: Project XJ - Jeff - 09-23-2009 So I can get a set of 4 Moab wheels for $150... 16X8 ![]() Or a set of 5 Icon wheels with tires (stock size, not bawlin) for $150...15X7 ![]() Or I can keep the stock snowflakes...opinions?
Re: Project XJ - CaptainHenreh - 09-23-2009 Which ones are stronger? Re: Project XJ - Jeff - 09-23-2009 All of them are aluminium so I am going to guess from looking at them that the Moabs are the most beefy. Steel is the best choice for wheelin but this will live on the street most of the time (though certainly not a mall crawler) so I want it to look niceish. Re: Project XJ - JustinG - 09-23-2009 im kinda diggin the Moabs Re: Project XJ - Jake - 09-23-2009 I'd buy the Moabs. Re: Project XJ - CaptainHenreh - 09-23-2009 Needs moar steel. Re: Project XJ - Jeff - 09-23-2009 Shit, moabs guy had were JK moabs...wrong bolt pattern. So Icons are up for grabs but I can do steel for like $50 a wheel new. I dunno, I guess we will see. I can run the tires I want on the snowflakes I've got. Re: Project XJ - Mike - 09-23-2009 no snowflakes. Re: Project XJ - Jake - 09-23-2009 I have a silver MM sticker heading your way at the BBQ... gotta make this new whip officially official. |
