Oh, one feature that could be helpful if fixed is that the text area seems to be of a fixed width, so if you try to post a 800 or 1024 pixel image it gets cut off, like so:

Pasting a URL into the reply box, without wrapping it in URL tags makes it not show up in the post Sad

Sorry, I'm late to the party. I really like the new forum design! I echo many of the sentiments but my biggest thing I would like to see is people's user names bigger than the rest of the info in that box. But again, looks great! Thanks for all the work you put in on this Jake.

Actually, I quite like this "feature". I hate it when people post ridiculous sized photos and now I have to scroll to read every subsequent post.

Although one messageboard I'm on has the option of clicking a picture to view it in 'full size' and then clicking it again to bring it down to 'not piss me off size'.

Not trying to get down on you - great work so far!

The forum should resize the images so they fit in the space or expand to allow for the full picture, not just cut it off.

Here is a MOD to make this happen:

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=561803

It might be worth while trying to put an auto mod interface on the forum to make it easier to add additional features.

Also, please fix whatever is causing URLs to not have [url] tags appended automatically to them. If you just put a URL in a post and then edit that post, the URL disappears as well.

The Contact page should also include your names below or beside the pictures.

Exactly. I too am pissed off by 4000 pixel images posted on message boards, but leaving it so that every moderately but still acceptably large image is cut off is inane.

Looks great and very professional! Job well done!

This is a good look for the forum. Good job!

Re: I can't believe it's not BUTTER! - DierwulfBL - 06-11-2009

RJ said it earlier in the post: When clicking links it would be nice to have a target=_blank. It's good practice that when theres a link to a site outside the site you open it in a new window so that users can easily navigate back to the mmsports page (click the tab) instead of hitting the back button god knows how many times

Re: I can't believe it's not BUTTER! - WRXtranceformed - 06-11-2009

The grey is starting to get to me. I liked G's idea of having some black and yellow in the forum headers.

Re: I can't believe it's not BUTTER! - Jake - 06-11-2009

Okay, got the different posts to be alternating colors. I like it, thanks Apoc for the suggestion - I used your colors exactly.

I may mess with G's suggestion of black and yellow for certain headers and stuff. Gotta do more on my dinner break though - heading in to work to deal with the glossy-eyed, iProduct-craving masses Big Grin

Re: I can't believe it's not BUTTER! - WRXtranceformed - 06-11-2009

Thanks for all of your hard work Jake, the alternating colors on the posts look a lot better!

Re: I can't believe it's not BUTTER! - HAULN-SS - 06-11-2009

Can you adjust the color of the butter-yellow that high-lights the threads when you're looking in Lounge, or where-ever? If you are mousing over a "dark" section, the two light grays with a yellow in between is a real eye-fuck.

Not trying to be picky... Arrow

the colors now are definitely an improvement.

Thanks! Opinions on the "cone orange" aka #EE4E3E as the separation for signatures? Too intense? I could try a lighter color.

Working on MODs today...

Re: I can't believe it's not BUTTER! - Jake - 06-12-2009

EDIT: Quick reply is in the works. The function itself is working, I just need to add the button to say "Quick Reply" at the bottom of the page. For now, there's one at the top of the page in plain text

As far as links in a new window! I think that's fully functional now... difficult to find a hack that actually works, for some reason. Try it for yourself and see - it works for me in Safari and Firefox.

Testing to see if a URL with no tags will work... <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.mmsports.org/contact/">http://www.mmsports.org/contact/</a><!-- m --> and it appears it does! That link I posted was just copied and pasted from my browser. No tags applied. Sweet.

I'm working on a solution for auto image resizing. Not sure if the one Adam posted is easily implemented - it appears that way but I need to play around some more.

Slow and steady updating wins the race...

Looks perfect to me.

Just change the buttons to match and make the username bigger and I think it'll blend well.
