A W8 Wagon? They didn't even make those did they?

I'm pretty sure the W8s weren't sold with a stick either. An AWD W8 Manual Wagon would be entirely too awesome to actually produce, the fabric of space and time would tear apart.

I have a seen a lot of manual 4motion V6s ones at work though. You could get a 1.8t A4 Avant with a stick.

Or keep your car the way it is and buy an CBR F4i. Mmmm

Jake Wrote:Can you sell it for another wagon that's 4Motion, 5/6-speed manual, W8?

Or would you even want another one... could be time to move on for something else. Like a 540iT wagon.

Jake, the likely hood of finding a 4motion 5speed wagon in the US in next to zero... I would love a W8 but the facts are they are way more $$$ to repair and even worse there isn't a whole lot of support for it.. Hell even VW doesn't even know how to work on it... Now a BMW wagon... MMM... I'm sorta liking BMW's these days as I have gotten paid to change a coworkers E34 525i's Thermostat, Water Pump, and Lower Control Arm.. Not the best way to be introduced.. I think I would like to stay with a wagon but I'm lacking shifting gears and the ability to update power.. I'm ok with 1.8t 5speed wagon Passat.. They're just difficult to find.

Don't get me wrong I love my car, but I'm just getting bored with it.. maybe it's because I've had to spend all my money on maintenance.. i don't think I would care if I couldn't get any more hp out of it.. but I've been dying to drop the bitch..

Yes they did.... They're just as uber rare.. Here's a prime example of a guy in SOCAL on Passatworld that makes me drool... W8, 4motion(only option), 6spd.... Talk about mega boner.. This is why I love the white..

to add somebody on Passatworld when through the pain of creating an excel spreadsheet which allows you to see how many of passats like yours where available in the U.S. from 1998-2005.. W8 was only availble starting in 2003..The number of W8, 4motion,6speed, Variants available in the ENTIRE US was 43... Rarity? Yes I think so..The guy above with the candy white and black leather is the ONLY one in the U.S...

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - ScottyB - 07-08-2010

my old A4 was a struggle between money for maintenance and money for fun. the problem is that i knew it would drive nice with some choice upgrades but i could never get there because i was always replacing something or dealing with a weird issue. in hindsight i'm glad i moved on. there are lots of fun German cars out there to sample if you need to stay with something made over there.

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - V1GiLaNtE - 07-08-2010

That's the way I feel.. I know with the right suspension they car would have the looks and feel I know I'm after.. it's just difficult to make it fun when I'm spending on parts.. If I had to leave it I would want to get a wrx wagon.. But that's way out of my price range.. The manual, wagon, awd options are limited if I'm trying to spend $6000 or so. And that's if I can convince my parents I should sell it.. I'm in this weird "my name is on the title and their name is on the title" limbo..

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - .RJ - 07-08-2010

W8, 4WD, 6 speed wagon? Srsly? I must have one.

That's how my car is titled as well. Something about helping keep insurance costs down, I guess. Either way, I paid for the car so if I want to sell it, they're cool with that. I would expect at some point we'll change the title to explicitly my name. Eventually.

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - flintster55 - 07-08-2010

You can probably actually get into a wrx wagon for 6k now. The wagons are cheaper since they arent as highly demanded by the younger crowd and you have a much higher chance of finding one that hasn't been beaten on its whole life. 6k would be 100k+ miles but if you can squeeze out 7-8 you can probably find one in the 60-70k range.

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - V1GiLaNtE - 07-09-2010

^^ Yea I noticed that Adam.. 6k gets me one with like 140k... Which I'd rather keep my car with 130k because I know the whole history.. I started looking around but it was difficult to find a 5spd wagon with lowerish miles and below 7k..

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - ScottyB - 07-09-2010

you could also consider an outback sport which is basically a 2.5RS wagon with 2-tone paint. later down the line just swap it for the turbo engine. it's been done like a million times.

an older one can probably be had under 3 grand.

Youve got your whole life ahead of you to be an old man and stick with one car. There are way too many different fun cars to experience before you get old and just want conistency.

daddy like...

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - CaptainHenreh - 07-09-2010

Just FYI, an (older, like pictured) Outback Sport is 2.2 liters, and the swap is actually kind of hard. It's been done many times, but that doesn't mean it's easy. :-p

Soon though, megasquirt will have a subaru plug and play, and then the swap will be easy peasy.

Don't get me wrong DJ... I would LOVE to get out of the car and get something different.. I can name a dozen different cars i would love to get into and experience...(240, older golf, wrx, v8 muscle)I'm just in this situation where the car was given to me.. and my rent's are sticklers.. :dunno:

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - SlimKlim - 07-09-2010

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - V1GiLaNtE - 07-09-2010

^ Lol.. exactly why I don't want one.. Plus there isn't nearly as much space.. And If I'm going to buy an M3 I'm sure as hell aint buyin' the 4 door...

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - SlimKlim - 07-09-2010

In my defense I bought mine shortly before becoming a member of MM, so I claim innocence.

Re: My 2002 Volkswagen Passat Wagon - JustinG - 07-10-2010

Buy a Galant VR4 or a DSM you'll never look back.

You wont have to look back, youll be looking ahead cause everybodys in front of you cause your stuck on the side of the road.

Sorry, too easy. They are awesome cars till you modify them too much. Plus 99% of dsmers ghettofy them.
