Re: Winter Projects? - Ryan T - 12-26-2010 Jeep: Blow out heater core, soak it in clr, then blow it out again so I have some heat Adjust transfer case linkage so I can get it into 4low DD the daylights out of it Vette: Detail engine bay Put on jackstands and take the wheels off so I can get my new tires mounted and then thoroughly detail the wheels Change brakes while the wheels are off Look at it hooked up to the drip-charger and wish I was driving it Re: Winter Projects? - xvxax - 01-13-2011 I cannot believe I actually accomplished my to do list from 08. I never finish to-do lists. This will probably extend well into 2011: -install short shift kit -door gaskets -front bumper underpanel thing -fix seat mounting -front subframe /rear swaybar welding/oil pump nut safety wire -diff fix which is probably related to loose subframe bolts -header install -paint/install fog light delete plate things. Re: Winter Projects? - Goodspeed - 01-13-2011 xvxax Wrote:-paint/install fog light delete plate things. Why not fab up some brake ducting? Not that you'd need it for AX, but maybe if you do some more track stuff. Re: Winter Projects? - xvxax - 01-13-2011 Brake ducts are expensive-ish and they limit steering which would suck for autocross. At the rate of 1-2 HPDEs, I'll be cool with the stock ducts on the inside of the fogs. I think the covers are $30 and they will prevent me from blasting out a fog light all over the ground. Everyone wins. When's the install day for Rockwells and 54" michelins on your XJ? Re: Winter Projects? - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-14-2011 Bingo, stock m3s have brake ducts that are separate from the foglights. I need to get a set of those blockoff played as well. Peter, I used and engine hoist to hold my engine up when doing the front end work. Re: Winter Projects? - Goodspeed - 01-14-2011 Ah, didn't know they had them stock. Might have to do that install for next winter, I'm having too much fun going sideways on tiny A/S's this season. Re: Winter Projects? - ScottyB - 01-14-2011 if you guys are interested in some non-intrusive additional ducting you could pull a trick out of the porsche book. they use air deflectors that mount to the lower A-arms and direct air that flows under the front apron. they're cheap, easy to mount, and are out of the way under the car. you may have to do a bit of trimming at full lock. guys with SVT focus's have tried these and report great results considering the simplicity of the piece. http://forums.focaljet.com/road-rally-auto-x/545827-brake-cooling-ducts.html |
