Chris try the Falkens. Much better than those RE730's you had before. If not, the Kumho Ecsta MX, much less annoying on the street and better wet traction in standing water.

Ah yes, they totally slipped my mind. The two reasons I didn't go with them initially were wet traction and tread wear, both of which are no longer issues as it will not be daily driven (as much) when, and if, it eventually runs. I loved the feel of the Falkens on Mike's car at the VMP autocross last weekend.

As for the Ecsta MX, that's a relatively pricey tire, no?

Chris

The Ecsta MX is a few bucks more than the Falkens, but should wear better.

Then next time you can correct yourself! <-- what a funny little face; he seems to have a malfunction in his upper lip

KPWSerpiente Wrote:...wastegate does not leak. It blows open at high rpms ...

Tell me how that's not a leak?

My guess, 315, assuming you're tuning it a little on the dyno.

- KPWSerpiente - 07-29-2004

You can call it a leak if you want.

Did I not mention I was going to spend about 2 hours tuning it?

There are only two reasons I'm doing this:
One, because I cannot tune on the street. 3rd gear pulls are required and they got up to 100 mph...and I enjoy being speeding ticket free. I also cannot do it at the track, launching the car is too violent and it disconnects the laptop 9 times out of 10.
Two because I made a goal to have 300 whp and this is the only way to see if I achieved this goal although the trap speeds indicate it.

so what do we get if we win

a chance to drive in the car Wink?

Okay, we will... because it's a leak. Humor me: what else would we call it?

... I'll stay away from that one.

Stay away from it how? I don't understand the implications.

We can all agree to call it a leak if you want.

Quote:what kinda dyno.... ????????????

Good question. Some kind of dynojet.

I just have some weird phobia of conversations concerning unstable laptops. There was a restraining order, some community service... I don't really want to talk about it.

w00t!

Check the first post, I compiled everyone's guesses at the bottom. Insomniacs have plenty of time to do small things like that.

I noticed RJ did a lot of posting, but no guessing.

Okay, I'll make fun of your exclamations instead. YARRRRRR! <-- Oh God, this smiley needs medical assistance. He's missing an eyebrow and his left eye is stuck shut!

I haven't seen that LOL face anywhere, or I can guarantee I would have immediately noticed his malfunctioning upper lip. It's freaky!

Chris

P.S. I'm sorry Jack. The smilies are such easy targets. [Image: smiley_target.gif][Image: smiley_gun.gif]

A posting of the Gay Pirate pic would be appropriate here for Jack, but I will let it slide.

KPWSerpiente Wrote:Mike, I know not all of us have actually done the work on our cars, but when you have you don't just return it back to stock and buy a different car because it's not hitting the e.t.'s just yet. A full second can be cut with the right traction oriented mods, and I have plans to go bigger in the power department.
GSX's are also known to break transmission and drivetrain parts like it is their job. So I think I'll stick with my car, the one I've poured my energy into and when the 12 second slips come you'll have the pleasure of knowing a fwd car that can run with a z06 from a stop.

Traction, power, drivetrain reliability: pick two... what do you think your traction oriented mods are going to do to the transmission/drivetrain parts? Smile
