if you live in freshly plowed yuppie-burbia then yes.

if you live on never-plowed hilly backroads, allseasons on a miata dont do shit.
i bought snow tires this year after sliding off the road and getting stuck twice last year

That's when you need to drive that truck! It doesn't matter if you go off road then, you just bounce right back up onto the road :-).
hahah Smile
but the truck is 2wd Sad

the only thing worse than a miata in the snow is a 2wd truck with an empty bed!

Supra does about as well in the snow as the truck does. The trucks tires and gearing give it the edge though. Brand new Michelin LTX on the truck > 20k mile Kuhmo 712s on the supra. I've driven both for entire winters though and never really had a problem.

Today was way worse than yesterday, my "low traction" light was on halfway to work.

Some dummy in a Mustang stopped on an icey hill this morning causing everybody to stop behind him. He got stuck, then several of the folks behind him got stuck, too, including me. I had to back up, turn on to a side street, and build up some momentum to get up it. It doesn't help that the Accord is practically unalignable... maybe I'll get snow tires this year.... if this keeps up...

That'd be funny if you paid more for tires than your car is worth

Ah, ok. Don't take my advise then ;-). *Will not be responsible for Evan "bouncing" his truck around from this point forward.*

Yes! What a cool feature! You should modify the light cover to say something like "drifto!"

My neighborhood was shit this morning but in a good way. All it took was a mash of the gas and you were opposite lock d0rift0! I hit up a parking lot on my way to work this morning, that was extremely entertaining.

hmm.... wait, that's bad?

- Evan - 12-06-2007

snow tires are the fuckin' SHIT!

- KPWSerpiente - 12-06-2007

We have got slightly under four inches out here in Omaha. Yeah, the front end of the STi is a plow but that hasn't stopped me from fucking around with all the differential settings available. 50/50 lock in an open parking lot for the win. Think I'm going to bring a camera out later this afternoon for some shots in the snow.

I nearly got rear-ended by an M6 last night. He went sideways behind me braking for our traffic light.

I thought BMWs these days had all of these fancy electronics blah blah blah that were so great.

(I know, reality is he's probably on Z-rated hey look at me I can do the 0-60 fast! tires but his $80+k car got rendered useless last night and nearly saw a shit-ton of damage. his saving grace was me pulling forward through the light a tad to avoid it.)

I like the fact that everyone up here knows how to drive in the snow. I don't have to look over my shoulder for idiots every time theres snow all over the roads.

Mustangs are total shit in the snow. My buddy has a V8 GT and he decided (after playing in a parking lot with my Escape and having a good time) to go get the Stang and try snow fun with that. Didn't work. No traction and he got stuck trying to get out of the parking lot.

It was an auto at the time, now it's a 5 speed (did a conversion...) but even trying to start it in 2nd with traction control off did nothing.
