I've been hearing about this repave and I just can't understand how they are going to repave and be driving on it within a week. Most of the time when I've heard or read about track repaves they give it several weeks or so to cure.

There was a PCA event on Main this weekend so they start repaving on Monday and will be done by Thursday? Didn't RA's repave take a month or 2?

I really can't see them repaving the whole track and it being ready 5 days after they start. If there is pavement, it's not gonna last long.

Its a confirmed rumor.
Indeed, one of the SP higher-ups confirmed the rumor in person less than 48 hours ago. She said, and I quote, "we haven't seen the paving equipment yet, but it's supposed be finished before the NASA event."

I could be wrong, but they repave city and public roads in a matter of a few hours usually and people are driving on them the same day? How is this different?

And even with a few weeks to cure sometimes it still goes wrong (exhibit A: crumbling track at Laguna in 06). I hope it goes well but it seems pretty darned strange to me.
