If any of you guys are looking into buying a new place, or even moving into a new rental unit and want some halp checking it out for common problems, feel free to give me a call. I can probably come up with a good list of "requests" you can provide to your landlord / realtor to take care of before you sign on the dotted line (recharge freon in AC unit, drain sediment from the hot water heater, etc.) I'm by no means a licensed home inspector, but I did build some damn good townhomes for a year and a half and know what to look for ^_^

As far as the gay thing goes, one of my best friends is bisexual and I know a bunch of gay people through her. I would live with any of them in a heartbeat, and it certainly doesn't change a thing about MY sexuality. Besides, THEY would probably be the ones coming to ME about the loud noises from the bedroom... the last couple girlfriends I've had have been screamers Confusedhock:

I've got to agree with RJ.

The problems cited with a gay roommate aren't problems specific to people of that orientation. I wouldn't want to see or hear my roommates going at it with anybody, regardless of who it was. It's inconsiderate - period. The fact that you don't see things that way and instead cite the problem as being only with gays is indicative of a larger problem with their choices than just not choosing them for yourself.

And seriously, come on, do you really, honestly believe that people will think you're gay if you have a gay roommate? Does everybody thinking you're going at it with the goth every night? Why doesn't the implication work both ways?

Oh, and Chad's views on not renting to gays don't count - he already said he wouldn't rent to anybody at all these days.

2nd paragraph: Actually, I HAVE had several people ask me if I was banging out my roommate. Implication does work both ways, but some things I would rather have associated with me than others. Is that really a big deal? It happens every day. You think kids with caddy's rollin on 24's in the ghetto are NOT associated with drug dealers?
